SANTO DOMINGO.- Electoral Board (JCE) Administrative Chamber president Roberto Rosario said Monday’s regional test to transmit part of the presidential elections result via scanners was successful, and JCE president Julio Cesar Castaños warned that their use will not be reversed, as opposition PRD party leaders requested.
Rosario said the San Cristóbal and Santo Domingo provinces, with its municipalities Boca Chica, Santo Domingo North, East and West were chosen for these tests, whose polling places represent 11.98 percent of the general voting for May 16.
The 26-minute tests were conducted by transmitting 885 affidavits, with 100 scanners, from 1,321 polling places in the National District, Santo Domingo and San Cristóbal provinces.
Rosario added the total of 742 scanners to be used on elections day would transmit 6,195 affidavits in 26 minutes, which in his view could provide the elections results by midnight, May 16.
