SANTO DOMINGO.- Three United States federal prosecutors, FBI agents and investigators from other agencies are in the country to probe the whereabouts of dozens of millions of dollars bilked from its Social Security System, allegedly laundered in the Dominican Republic.

Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez yesterday said there are leads in the case agaisnt those implicated, but refused give details, alleging that the investigation is on course, although it isn’t related to Dominican antinarcotics czar Rafael Ramirez’s  warning that he would reveal a case bigger than the one against the ex-Army captain Quirino Paulino.

Jiménez said the U.S. investigators are working with local prosecutors on money laundering in the country, as part of the collaboration in important cases. "In fact, those prosecutors are behind an investigation of an embezzlement committed in the United States and it’s assumes that fruit of that money, of that fiscal fraud against the United States, a large part of all that money was laundered in the Dominican Republic."

The official, who said there could be more information on the case “in a relatively short time,” doesn’t know how long they’ll remain in the country. He stressed that there’s no extradition request.

"There’s information that isn’t public knowledge," he said, but noted that neither politicians nor military have been implicated no far.

I wonder if the "US investigators" who visit the DR so often for professional reasons, that is, enforcing US law over the DR, are themselves above DR law, that is, immune against criminal and civil prosecution for offenses committed in the DR.

In others words, can they kill, torture, rape, sell dope and humans, peddle porn, and launder money with immunity and impunity.

If they can, you can be sure that they are.

And if you know what's good for you, you better be careful about what you see and say.

"US investigfators" are getting to take full control of the DR by ordering their Dominican slaves to throw some top politicians and military and police officers in jail, to scare the excrement out all the rest who will jump to do anything and everything the "US investigators" tell them.

"Hey you, aren't you the vice president?"

"Yes sir?"

"Stand up when we come into the room?"

I wonder how this SS [social security] scam worked?

SS tourism is a big deal in eastern Europe, especially Poland, and Greece.

French and Dutch colonies in the Caribbean do SS or retiree tourism, too, respectively for their retired nationals from their beloved "mother countries."

The public health care system may make SS tourism, a guaranteed income group, a hard sell in the DR, but it's doable, as long as the old farts get a good, clean, spacious, and safe apartment.

They can fly to the USA for their surgeries or get cut open, because private DR health care is beyond their reach.

This is the squabble between high-end tourism (favored in some of the English-speaking Caribbean) versus the low-end (dominant strategies in the DR which is first with 3,000,000 visitors and Cuba, close with 2,000,000 visitors).

Well, SS tourism, long-term residents on SS checks, is the low-end of the low-end.

But Poland and Greece love them.

Radhames Jimenez sounds like he is playing 20 questions with the press.

He should be promoting movies which make more money from teasing tidbits of info before release.

Or at least selling tickets to the arrests when they happen.

No politicians no military yet, sounds like alot of behind the desk hackers if you ask me. Don't believe the military here is able enough to pull that one off....looks like the US boys got alot of work on their hands with this one.
