SANTO DOMINGO. - The Dominican government deported a Cuban-American fugitive who hid in the country after violating parole, the Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) said Wednesday.
It also reports the surrender of a Dominican resident in the U.S., who’ll be extradited to face sexual assault charges, and is now being held pending deportation.
The foreign deportee was identified as Juan Carlos Acosta, declared in Florida, whereas the Dominican is Toribio Antonio Cosme, who fled to Santo Domingo after the alleged sexual abuse.
DNCD agents arrested the Cuba-born Acosta last week in a street in Santo Domingo, and Cosme turned himself in when he learned of an arrest warrant issued by a U.S. court agaisnt him.
DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebrón said Acosta, who spent several days in the entity’s jail cel,l was placed aboard American Airlines flight 680 from Las Americas Airport to Miami, escorted by a U.S. marshal and DNCD agent.
