SANTO DOMINGO.- National District Public prosecutor Jose Manuel Hernandez met with a group of U.S Justice Department prosecutors to analyze and establish a work agenda on the seizure and confiscation of assets from extraditees.
Peguero said the Justice Ministry must manage and safeguard the properties seized from those wanted in extradition, according to the law that creates its statute and to the different international treaties that state that other countries’ authorities must provide assistance.
Heading the U.S. delegation are Jean B. Weld, of the Justice of Department Criminal Division, Miguel A. Fernandez and Geraldo M. Simms, of the Puerto Rico and Florida Districts prosecutors, who were accompanied by other U.S. embassy officials.
Hernandez said together with the U.S. prosecutors it was agreed on establishing procedures such as priorities on policies to expedite the confiscation and seizure of assets resulting from the criminal activities of extraditees, and which would be used to provide equipment and instruments for the Dominican law-enforcement agencies.

Thank you Al Capone.
This will give the Dominicans reason to turn in the bad guys. This will surpass tourism as the #1 cash cow until the bad guys move operations.

The extradition and forfeiture procedures are also for the non-criminals and patriotic Dominicans who disagree in any way or to the slightest degree with US hegemony over the DR.
The US Justice Department merely points its finger at ANY Dominican, however patriotic and upright, and says "See that guy I'm pointing at, I believe he launders or trafficks or both. We'll send the FBI plane down here to pick him up in a few weeks. Then, before his trial, we'll take everything he owns. OK?"
"Thanks boss, I needed your commands and instructions," replies the Dominican prosecutor, carrying in his back pocket a debit card electronically linked a Miami bank account into which the US Justice Deparmtent electronically deposits money every month.
"As longs as you talk and act like my slave just as you're doing, I won't extradite you to the USA." the US Justice Department official promises.
"Yes sir, we'll put him on the FBI plane when it lands."
It's called extraterritoriality.

I have never been a fan of any Govt. 'seizing' theiving anything, It seems a ploy to elieminate pollitical opposition and line pockets of those in power , sorry to say it but I have to side with ol' Bellyache on this one.

I think the punishement needs to fit the crime and proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
GWB via the "War" and his Patriot Act has given the US "Carte Blanche" to seize, intercept and pretty much do what ever the "Fudge" they want to.
Now the US is trying to force their unconstitutional "Cowboy Tactics" down here.
At one time the Constitution and Bill of rights meant something , I am afraid the ink has faded and someone has filled in the blanks with crap.

I think you are 100 percent right Belial. And as for you gouletcolonial you seemed to be the uneducated one from the lack of substance in your remarks.
The USA is slowly becoming a closed society run by Jews and the Gestapo police (ICE). Now they want to extend their post 911 nondemocratic gestapo police scheme to the dumb ass domincan yes-mans.
Oh lord, give us a president that has the backbone of Chavez or Castro to the the USA go f..k yourselfs.

In the picture above, there seems to be 12 prosecutors, although others may be outside of the range of the cameras.
Of special interest are the front-center four prosecutors ... three males and a female ... with their hands overlapping just over or on [look at the black guy] their genitals. Just right of center is a guy in a shiny gray suit, gray shirt, and gray tie with some kind black strap dangling from his neck. Perhaps, this strap is how the US prosecutors control him.
To the left of genital four is a short lady dressed in a snug white pants suit. She clearly didn't trust any of these people because she, unlike the rest, toted her shoulder-strap bag and her document folder to the photo op, fearing their lost if she didn't hold on to them. She was probably right.
The guy with his hands behind his back ... glasses, dark suit and grayish tie ... on her left at the extreme edge of the picture seems to be the boss of this group of yes-people.
The rest appear to be there.

One of United State's most wanted fugitives was arrested late Monday afternoon in the Dominican Republic.
German Reyes, 47, is likely headed back to the U.S. In November 2005, Reyes was on trial for brutally raping his own daughter over a five-year period. Reyes took off the night before the jury convicted him.
Belial I guess this is the guy you are trying to protect with your amigito the fish correct ....you think this guy is a political prisoner

Under the guidance of the Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, A JEW a pernicious program of enforcement has been undertaken to arrest simple overstays. Armed ICE, (THE GESTAPO) officers in packs of three or four, daily force their way into the private homes and apartments of undocumented aliens and take them out in chains, detain them often without notifying family members, and, before their whereabouts are discovered, ship them to far off jails where they are housed with criminals, often denying them needed medications or medical attention. These people are being prosecuted by Michael Bernard Mukasey, A JEW.

When the US/Isreali Department of Isreali/Homeland Security (DHS) refers to its new deterrence strategy, the agency is not talking about nuclear arsenals, missile defense, or border security. For DHS, deterrence is a strategy of what U.S. law enforcement does best: imprisonment.
The United States has more people in jail—2.3 million—than any other nation. Although the United States has less than 5% of the world's population, it holds almost a quarter of the world's prisoners. One of every 100 adults in the "land of the free" is locked up. This is just another tool to extend their tentacles to here in DR.
I know your type, Gouletcolonial: a fat, obese, cracker who is probably an ugly looking senior citizen whose only meaning from life comes from calling others "moron" and comments like "hit the bricks," which makes me think you were a day laborer when you were part of the workforce and before you retired to your dungeon and your computer where you enjoy calling people names.

Fish it appears that that you were once caged thus your bitterness about the US prison system and your less than ceremonial return to the DR ...The less thinking you do the better off we will all be ,thinking for you is working without tools and you did enough of that when you were inside

Goulet : Your old age has made you bitter and your brain is shallow and opposed to new ideas. You are set in your ways. You derive pleasure from calling others names like moron which indicates that in your mind only you deserve the power to be intelligent and all others are beneath you. When someone disagress with your you lash out, not with substance but with meanness.
Drinking a sixpack gives you pleasure and washes away the dreary nights and your wishful thoughts of what could have been in your career and in the several failed marriages. Marriages that most probably failed after they got tired of you calling them morons.
As you for DR, you need to chart your own course and stop being led by the nose from your American "friends" whose only agenda, as far as Dominican Citizens in their country, is to detain and deport as many Dominicans as the GOP can, using petty charges. Have the backbone and ball

An interesting report out today (English version here) by the Spanish news agency EFE that points out Fidel's "Reflections" columns are no longer running in Cuba's official Communist Party newspaper, Granma, which has hosted them for almost two years. Fidel's observations are on the web for foreigners and people with Internet access, which pretty much shuts out most Cubans.
Is it a sign that trouble is brewing between Raul and Fidel? Or perhaps even Raul couldn't stand reading his brother's diatribes any longer.
