SANTO DOMINGO.- The community and social organizations grouped in Falpo have a new coordinator whose inaugural speech launched a threat to take to the streets to protest the economic crisis that’ll be a "social storm" he said will affect the country.
After taking the oath from outgoing coordinator Fidel Santana, Victor Bretón, Falpo leader in Licey (north), where the organization has stage violent protests,
Said he accepts the challenge and is willing to support poor Dominicans, whom he said are those who suffer most from the economic crisis.
He said his other duties include educating the population and to take Falpo to unknown places for it to grow until reaching power.
Santana criticized the internal division within the leftist movements and urged the diverse revolutionary sectors to unite.

I agree blanco in any democratic society protest often is the seed of change as long as is not irrational or self serving as it is the case in many cases
From: Dominican Republic
Strikes serve only the purpose of allowing the public to focus their frustrations over the manner in which a problem is being addressed.
In the case of FALPO, it is just another way of rousing the public to a fevered pitch of revolution, which is their goal to begin with.
Organizations such as this one have no other purpose since their leadership has absolutely no idea of how to solve the problems facing the country.
How many of the leaders in this organization have a working/intimate knowledge of economics, finance and government to create a woekable substitute for the incumbent administration.
Are they educated in those disciplines? I seriously doubt it andwould submit that most of their rhetoric is plagerized from the writings of Marx, Lenin, Hegel ,and others who were reacting to the Merchatilism and autocracies of the 19th century.
People likethese only wish to replace the power base with their own selves.

Worker strikes ... interuptions of capitalist exploitation or some other method of class struggle ... aim to lessen the rate of exploitation and raise the standard of living of the striking or struggling workers.
Strikes and other proletarian struggles require organizational and ideological training and, more importantly, self-training of the elements of the workers who strike or demand justice in some other manner.
Good leaders are key to achieving the organizational readiness and ideological consciousness requred to win a fight against the ravenous and unprincipled capitalists.
Two elemental tasks of the leaders of fighting workers:
(1) Unite internally the units or parts of the force of striking workers
(2) Solicit, cultivate, and win over the solidarity of the communities that externally surrounds the striking workers. The militant workers must work closely with the community on community issues long before a strike or other action and long after a strike.

these outfits in the DR seem more intent on rousing disension and stifling competition and or inovation. Even if the good people of the DR did wipe this petulant little man away like the filthy stain he represents, some other aggitator would replace him...The time for serious and lasting action is at hand...Viva La Empire

Leaders must convince his peers in the union or protest group that they are not mere "trade union secretaries" or "protest group bookkeepers."
Rather they are "the proples' tribunes."
Find food for elements of community in hard times, use their contacts to get medicine and treatment for community elements that fall down, do repair work on dwellings and shanties of the wretched, organize sport teams, musical bands, ideological study groups for the youth of the community to keep them from drug pushers and pimps, etc.
Most unions, protest groups ... and such ... lack the organizational, ideological, and ethical resources to even attempt to perform the second task, that is, winning over the surrounding communities.
Many such groups descend into talking shops, holding votes for resolutions and what-not by a show of hands, leaving a delicious feeling of fully satisfied self-importance when the meeting mercifully adjourns.
But FALPO will win proletarian honor.

Idiots.
Why not funnel their resources and efforts to the real issue which is
precluding real social advancement in the DR?
Unfortunately this is the product of a ignorant society.

When the union or group unites itself and builds its base in the communities that surround it, then attack, attack, and attack the capitalist dogs and, naturally, the bourgeois scum.
Some impetuous members of the union or self-defense group ... who can't wait one second before they attack ... long deep down to the very bottom of their souls to attack the capitalists only when the balance of power between the capitalists and the workers lopsidedly and transparently favor the capitalist.
Any prudent hesitation by the workers or protesters in attacking when the balance of power is in this dreadful condition triggers splits and disunities with the union or group.
Good leaders are needed to handle these impetuous fools.

Once again Belial shows his ignorance of just what government isall about.
he is of the opinion that if there is a "revolution" against the incumbent government, then all will be well if such is taken over by a socialist otganization.
He isn't aware of the fact that those who manage a government must have a clear understanding of all the factors which affect the daily operation of such an enterprise andwould have us believe that persons such as himself would solve all the problems just by wishing it so.
Heaven help us if idiots such as Belial are ever in charge of any government functions because they think they can solve all theproblems just by issuing proclamations steeped in the rhetoric of Marx, Lenin and their followers.

As I have suggested previously, people who have spoken to him personally and previously probably cross the street in order to avoid having to listen to him again. He says he has no such ideas as I suggest, the reality is that he has no ideas.

The right to strike is a cornerstone of a democratic society. Nuff said.
From: Dominican Republic
No one is arguing that "the right to strike" is a "bad thing".
Essentially, what they are arguing is that the people who strike in the DR do so without any real hope of having thier voice paid attention to since the "leaders" of thestrike are just as corrupt, as unethical, and are only seeking agrandizement for themselves; NOT for the people who are really affected by this incompetent Administration.
For the most part, these "leaders" are just run-of-the-mill thugs who are seeking the opportunity to create mayhem and unrest throughout the country and have not either the background nor the education to make a competent leader in government.
Should they ever gain power, the country would sink further into the maelstrom of inequality, poverty and corruption worse than it is now.
These "leaders' are just like Belial, all talk and no real substance to their leftist rhetoric.

I read a book on John D.Rockefeller not to long ago. The rhetoric that his spokesmen would use when referring to late 19th and early 20th century American employees of Rockefeller who would strike is strikingly similiar to what you just laid out TB. Just an observation.

Strikes-
1. legit protest of unbearable conditions-
method of moving officials to solve problems affecting the masses.
2. Yuc U Swimming pool business
Univ. de Yucatan Fac. de Medicina had an empty swimming pool (Merida, Yuc.,Mx)
Each year the "student" organization-commie- held a strike, closed the streets to extort money to fix the pool. The gov. caved and gave the pool money. Pool never fixed. "student" organization leaders were not students.
3. Hard core Commie- the cold war version- seeking power
