The priest Luis Rosario asks...Why?

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Catholic pastoral youth coordinator that deplored today the main obstacle to start disarming the population is some people’s attitude, who consider themselves serious and feel safer with guns, and that it’s “immoral” for the government to issue their license for money.

The priest Luis Rosario said instead of solving problems guns aggravate violence and delinquency. “While more people acquire arms to defend themselves, the more serious and tragic the events will be and the bearing and owning of firearms in Dominican Republic will be more uncontrollable.”

The prelate said to obtain disarm all Dominicans must be tolerant, especially those people who consider themselves reasonable, as with their attitude, fear and actions leads to resorting to guns.

“It’s not possible to do business by placing people’s lives at risk; the multimillionaire business of weapons must end in the world. To those in the country who are in this business, we recommend that they change the manner in which they earn a living for their families,” Rosario said.

He also criticized how easy it is to own and bear guns, “by justifying it with a simple license, which gives the impression that collecting the tax is more important.”

Rosario said to issue a license to own and bear a gun is a way of promoting the use of arms and creates a lack of control in society, because nobody definitively knows if those who walk around with a weapon have a license or not. “The government profits from licenses issued for guns, something which is immoral, because no physical or moral person can collect money from what has been essentially made to kill.”

He added it’s not too late, “to do way with guns before these end up doing away with us.”

A lack of control in society, because nobody definitively knows if those who walk around with a weapon have a license or not..Bull, At least a person who owns a legal gun does not rob businesses and others. Also where are the Police? Look what happened in New Orleans because of the of the Confiscation of legal arms

Thats why the Church needs to stop getting their hands wet in politics, its a bad product. Same reason why Military doesnt get involve in politics because when the two mix you get nasty results 95% of the time. Cardinals and Priests belong in churches, just like soldiers belong in the barracks. Let the Politicians do their job, they already have enough trouble trying to work things out within themselves.

I never understand why people think banning the legal possesion of guns will lower the crime rate. Crimminals buy their guns illegaly or steal them and are not worried about the morality of the situation.

The private ownership of arms is the bane of tyrants, Men of religion are called to live to a higher standard and see the best in all of mankind, But the rest of us have to live in the real world , Jesus is not going to stop a group of armed thugs set on raping your wife and looting your possessions, But Sam Colt sure as hell will.
