SANTO DOMINGO. - Ramon Báez Figueroa and Marcos Báez Cocco, convicted of fraud in the Baninter bank case, were sent to Najayo prison by Sentencing judge Saulo Ysabel Diaz Wednesday night.
When they arrived at the compound, the ex president of baninter exclaimed: " This is already over!"
The decision, taken after a meeting of more than 6 hours between the judge and the convicts and their lawyers, in the Ciudad Nueva courthouse, rejects the order of suspension of the process resulting from a challenge filed by Báez Figueroa, Báez Cocco and the financier Luis Alvarez Renta.
The information was given to reporters by Báez Figueroa lawyer Juárez Castillo, who showed the incarceration order for the prison in San Cristóbal province (south).
As of 8:13 p.m. neither Alvarez Renta nor his lawyers had appeared before Ysabel Diaz, who said it would be around 10 a.m. Thursday, when he would turn himself in.
According to the order to enter the penitentiary, Báez Figueroa will remain behind bars until December 9, 2017, to be released 12 noon on that day. Nine months were reduced from Báez Figueroa’s 10-year sentence, or the time served during the trial of the Baninter collapse which cost Dominican taxpayers US$2.5 billion.
The case of Vivian Lubrano
Also pending is the case of Vivian Lubrano de Castillo, sentenced to five years in prison, who is hospitalized in a clinic for unspecified reasons.

What "state secret of national security" can possibly exist? Unless the money is in Leonel's or his wife's account with the hippo's and they don't want to disclose all the judges names that have all this money then there is no state secret.

in order to get their (PRD) hands on listin diario and the other media. they had to put baninter in bankrutcy, as baninter was the principal holding company of the paper, radio and tv stations.
