SANTO DOMINGO.- The Justice Ministry issued a local and international arrest warrant against four Cuban brothers wanted by United States justice, charged with laundering money from a fraud against Medicare.

German Miranda, head of the Justice Ministry’s Anti-laundering Unit, said they suspect that the Cuban brothers Oscar, Carlos, Jose and Luis Benítez managed to leave the country, and a third round of confiscations of properties of the four brothers is programmed for today (Friday), but didn’t provide further details into the investigation.

He said several Dominicans are being questioned in connection with the Cubans, who allegedly defrauded Medicare out of 110 million dollars and several U.S. FBI agents are in the country for the investigation.

As part of the probe, 12 apartments worth millions of dollars each were seized yesterday in the capital’s exclusive Malecon Center, said to be owned by the Cubans, in the addition to vehicles, lots, boats, helicopters, yachts, hotels and cabañas already confiscated.

Near noon today a motel mostly used for romantic encounters and located on the Malecon’s outskirts was raided as part the operations to locate the Benítez brothers.

Goulet, now that you use that term, i would like to ask you, and anyone else for that matter " what the hell is a NATIVE? i have always wondered why it is that people who go to France, or Denmark, or Sweden, or Belgium, et al, always say, the French people are snooty, or the Swedes are this, the Brits are that. yet , when they go to countries with black people, they call them NATIVES? how come i never hear of anybody referring to indigenous Norwegians as NATIVES? this is not to indicate or suggest any racism on your part, but it seems to be some careless reference to people of color.

I am thinking you are being over sensitive ...maybe from watching to many Tarzan movies....I use it in reference to the native population of any country and if I am not mistaken I think that is the correct form ..I would be terribly embarrassed to have unknowingly used a slur dread ...but I think that is the method of usage that is normal....as you are aware I know when I use a slur

Goulet, as i said before, i am accusing you of nothing sinister. i simply make mention of the fact that whenever people go to countries with indigenous black folks, they invariably refer to them as THE NATIVES". i have not yet heard anyone come back from Denmark and comment on how nice THE NATIVES are! maybe they have been watching too much Tarzan: you have a point!

Dread in all honesty I think when people discuss sociological factors of any country the term is native peoples meaning those who are raised under socio political structures of that country...I gave it thought and yes I would refer to a Spaniard or a Dane as a native if they were born and raised there....Now when I think of the PC term native American recently changed to Casino Americans I have to think again
