SANTO DOMINGO. - Senate session to decide the fate of four Accounts Chamber members accused of committing irregularities in their functions began at 11:45 a.m., as Senator Ramón de la Rosa requested a one-hour recess to continue studying the case, a proposal that was declined.

The session –the first of its kind in Dominican Republic- began with Senate president Reinaldo Pared noting what’s transpired since the impeachment proceedings began Wednesday.

He said the Senate will only be able to either dismiss or acquit the Accounts Chamber’s members, which requires a minimum of 24 votes of the country’s 32 senators.

it is a governmental process that needs to be addressed and resolved. like any other country there is a democratic due process, until then let us not jump to conclusions.
