SANTO DOMINGO.– The Presidency’s special commission that probes the Bani bloodbath where seven suspected drug traffickers were gunned down gangland style interrogates a colonel, two prosecutors, an Army general and a Navy admiral, in addition to the Police general stationed in that city of Peravia province (south).
Newspaper Clave Digital, quoting a Justice Ministry source, said both prosecutors are from Peravia, the current one and an assistant prosecutor. Although the names were not released, Peravia’s current prosecutor is Robert Lugo Betancourt.
The officials being interrogated have reportedly been ordered to come to the Justice Ministry, in the National District.
Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez, when he explained the probe’s procedure to reporters, said he shouldn’t speak of the investigation process in the case of the killings in Paya nor of Peravia senator Wilton Guerrero’s accusations.

I know one thing those Colombians cartel will turn DR upside down if they don't get that money for the merchandise they stole. I can see LAS FARCS saying " esos dominicanos, mal paridos". Vea pues cabron negrito usted tiene mi plata miquito...jajjaja..colombians will have to translate this. I feel sorry once Colombian cartels get word they were robbed by the same people they paid off to get the stuff in the country in the first place.

Ostentatiousness and impunity
Journalist Juan Bolivar Diaz calls for an end to pretentious displays of wealth by government officials as well as to impunity, which he says are behind the drug trade's penetration into Dominican society. "Crime in all its manifestations has found fertile ground in which to multiply in this country where the quest for a quick buck is motivated by impunity and the culture of unbridled ostentatiousness exhibited by many in contrast to the levels of poverty of most of Dominicans," he comments in Hoy. " More people are becoming convinced that the country is going through a crisis that requires new policies that come down to earth in keeping with the economic-social reality and adjust the lifestyle and consumption of privileged groups, especially those in government and politics, imposing the rule of the law," he writes.

Jabao, sadly ,i must concur with you. these colombians are not going to go away quietly, having been ripped off like this. this is not going to end here, and some guys are going to learn that there has to be honor among thieves!!

This is a classic "tumbe".

Dreadlock, these colombians for the most part take that stealing amongst theives very personally. Oh boy I can see them getting off that flight ready to put some work in. The DR thugs (PN & DNCD) don't even have the man power nor equipment to battle with these guys. Besides they are still pissed Ingrid got away. I can see it know..Don Jairo usted no lo puede creer. Esos dominicanos hijuepucha faltan respeto. Les voy a enseñar a esos negros como hacer una matanza sin testigos. Oiga pues negro le voy a decir una vez..donde esta mi plata, mico. I say they better move that perico quick and pay them off before they take over every torre on anacaona ave and resorts in Punta Cana as collateral damage. DR would be loaded with foreign investment.

The Colombian "Hitman Team" has been here (DR) for a few days now, planning their strategies. The PN, Justic Department and DNCD officials involved in the "BANI RIP-OFF" should not be too concerned as to what LF's commission will uncover and do to them. They need to be concerned what will be left of them whenever the Colombians seek their "Pay Back". Their families may not have enough parts the for the closed casket wakes, which will soon certainly follow. Pucker-Up guys and gals!

If he knows nothing about the drugs then the only thing he is admitting is he is as STUPID as they come.
And he should be fired for that.
But if he is driving around in an $40k USD SUV then he is shamelessly STUPID.

I have to agree.
The Columbian pay back will reach into the families of everyone involved and it will not be pretty.
You should know soon enough who was involved.

Just a lot of "immediate aftermathing". Like staying up all night after a burglar just broke into your house. You can't keep staying up nights forever. Can you? Nobody will remember any of this a few weeks from now .. and then it will happen over and over again .. and again .. and again .. just like the electricity problem .. which has been going on for as long as I can remember .. nobody has bothered to do anything about it .. look man .. this is the DR .. it is different down here .. life will just go on. As it always has.

Rubi, this is far far from race my friend. Learn spanish and you'll realise that it's about these narcos getting there money and very upset that they were double crossed. I wish it was merely some dumb dominican and haitian race issue. These guys dont play my friend and those greens better be ironed and in the suit case.

To all: Sounds like DR is ready for its "special period"? Remember what Fidel did to rid Cuba of all its "foreign traitors"? The language I undertand from Dominican officials is that something extreme most be done including "...change policies..." Hmmm? Would you consider anyone entering your country to transport drugs and money an "enemy of the state"? Cuba was once the "playground" for the Italian mafia (rip) and every crooked, racist American politician, where gambling and prostitution was ubiquitous and corruption was a way of life. Leonel, time for the next phase...

Nothing of that sort ever happens here these days .. it all ended with "El Jefe" a long time ago .. in a few weeks it will all be forgotten .. we will be back to business as usual ..Bani and Peravia are a little hot right now .. so the NARCOTICS and MASS MURDERS will show up a little to the east or to the west .. business as usual.

I am a devout Socialist. The Chinese are a perfect example of total control and total efficiency. Life is about balance and that's one thing that the narco trade and corruption will never have. They exist purely based on excess and vanity. By the way...wouldn't it be smarter to legalize drugs? Castro has been accused of drug-traffiking yet wouldn't it (narco trade) better in the government's hands? It would taxed and controlled like any other industry. Or we could leave it up to the gangsters and corrupt politicians.
