SANTO DOMINGO. - "Although Alejandrina German, ex minister of Education was always receptive and willing to find solution to the problems of the teachers, a change at the top of the Education Ministry  was pertinent," said Dominican Teachers Association (ADP) president Maria Teresa Cabrera.

She said a change was advisable because of the ongoing confrontations regarding the school breakfast’s quality. "We greet the change and we congratulate Melanio Paredes, an expert in the problems of Education and of the teachers’ grievances, who raised the demand of a fair public education of quality and the right to a worthy life for the teachers."

In that regard, the ADP president said Paredes’ presence in the Education Ministry will ensure communications and will serve as an impulse to obtain the teachers’ and the union’s demands.

Obviously only interested in self enrichment and self agrandizement, Sec. of Ed German will be missed only by the companies with whom she made special deals. Let's hope that the new Secretary is interested in improving our woeful education system.

The entire GOVERNMENT has a serious problem with CORRUPTION. I don't see how a new Secretary or replacing a handful of people here and there should make any difference. The corruption cannot be the work of just one or two people. The entire SYSTEM is corrupt. Are you going to replace the ENTIRE SYSTEM? The entire GOVERNMENT?

If you are talking about CORRUPTION .. you are obviously IMPLYING COMPARISONS against an ESTABLISHED STANDARD. What is your STANDARD? The US? Hey man .. you gotta understand something .. this country is NOT the US. Things happen differently down here. It's a different culture. A different world. Most Dominicans are used to corruption. They grew up with it. They have a different outlook on life. On death. On love. On everything. They have seen worse. You can't IMPOSE the US STANDARD or ANY OTHER STANDARD here. It WILL NOT WORK. You are WASTING YOUR TIME.

It is stubborn, stupid attitudes born of ignorance, such as yours that will keep us forever in the darkness. Of course things can change. If everyone says that this is the way it always is then that is the way it will always stay. But if the people use their voices and their brains and their votes, then change is there to be had. You're backward thinking would have kept Japan always ruled by an emperor, The USA by England, and countless other downtrodden peoples under the yoke of cruel leadership. Thank God our leaders are not cruel, just stupid and corrupt. We can make a difference if we stop thinking that "that´s the way it has always been so that is how it always must be."

I agree, it's really a simple standard you've had here, A,B,G's and how much money can you steal from it's people. When do Dominican's start believing in thier school system to provide a better future for the children? Maybe the change in milk standard will be the starting piont, one only know's it works elsewhere!! Or are we again waisting our time with change?

MISTER .. have you held any kind of an important GOVERNMENT position here in the DR? Do you have any REAL EXPERIENCE running a GOVERNMENT OFFICE or GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT in the DR? I mean what do you have in the way of QUALIFICATIONS that would give us the IMPRESSION that you have even a CLUE on how to DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM? What are YOUR CREDENTIALS? If you DON'T HAVE ANY .. then JUST SHUT UP.

You need to get a JOB. You have been LOITERING around here since 9:00 AM this morning. Pacing back and forth. Nothing to do. Spreading your piles of GIBBERISH. You need to get a JOB. Hopefully a GOVERNMENT one .. so you can get some experience. Then come back here and try to sound like you KNOW what you are TALKING ABOUT. Right now .. YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE.
