SANTO DOMINGO.- President Leonel Fernandez designated Police major general Jose Aníbal Sanz director of Immigration; major general Manuel de Jesus Florentino director of the Border Development Agency and vice admiral Sigfrido Pared director of the Dominican Port Authority.

Presidential Decree 377-08 also designates former opposition PRSC party senator Fulvio Lora as a Cabinet level minister without functions; Miguel Angel Hernandez as Executive Branch Sugar adviser; the journalist Jose Tomas Paulino as vice consul in New York, and Iván Pujols as Agriculture undersecretary.

Fernandez also designates 18 other people, via Decree 373-08, as undersecretaries of Agriculture.

Meanwhile, Matilde Lucrecia Ovalle was designated undersecretary of Women; Manuel Nolasco, César José de los Santos and Fausto Rafael Fernandez were designated undersecretaries of Tourism. 

On Tuesday morning Fernández designated José Francisco Peña Guaba as administrator of the National Lottery, substituting Ramón Rivas, who is now director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct Corporation (CAASD).

 

He also designated Frank Rodríguez director of the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD), Faustino Jiménez director of the National Sugar Institute (INAZUCAR), and Mariano Germán, director of the Potable Water Institute (INAPA).

For the most part, this round of appointsments doesn't reach as high as a "secretary," this round is mostly for "under-secretaries,"

If you want the job of under-secretary of reality, you're home free, because almost nobody deals or wants to deal with the stuff called reality. It's all yours.

Juan B. Can I be your Under-Secretary for Matters of Little or No Importance, in the Reality Secretariate.

The true defination should be Secretary without Portfolio (sin cartera). It just implies he has to find where to steal from as he is not assigned to say, Hacienda, Commerce, Transportation etc. which have the $ their to steal.

As Secretary of Reality I will be accepting applications for the following positions:

Secretary of Honesty ( not a cabinet position and never before filled. Obviously, no current or previous government officials need apply.)
Secretary of Monedas- Job requires the ability to count change and determine AHEAD OF TIME, the needs of the pueblo. Cannot count mints nor gum as money.
Secretary of Streets-Must live on an unpaved street (don't we all?) and must not pave it until 1,000,000 streets are paved.


And for all ex government officials: Secretary of Subornos-Must have a good head for numbers(obviously not allowed to leave a paper trail) and be able to keep all bribe payers current.
