President Fernandez takes the officials' oaths.

SANTO DOMINGO.- We’re not going to take part it and we’ll deal with it in the next meeting of the Political Committee," said Senate president Reinaldo Pared Thursday regarding the conflicts stemming from president Leonel Fernandez’s designations, which in some cases have degenerated into scandal.

He said it’s unfortunate that even Cabinet-level ministers have staged incidents that include the refusal to accept certain designations and demands by the heads of minority parties allied to the ruling PLD to be designated in others.

"I’ll say this, because president Leonel Fernandez instructed (Felix) Bautista and Francisco Javier Garcia to coordinate this type of thing during the transition, but I believe that it’s Felix who has followed that up.”

Fernandez’s designations, or in the case of Santiago province a ratification, where last night he had to solve the conflict in the Office of the Prosecutor, by confirming Raul Martinez and designating Henry Cerda as Assistant DA, after the latter had announced that he had been named in the former’s post by Decree.

Even the ex vice president Jaime David Fernandez Mirabal refused to accept Fernandez’s designation, as head of the Environment Ministry last week, and yesterday insinuated that it’s the President who must talk about the conflict.

"When two people meet and talk about a topic, it’s the most important one who must refer to the issue," Fernandez Mirabal said without mentioning the chief executive’s name.

Government post “rip-off"

The Presidency’s Legal adviser César Pina Toribio said public statements by Agustín Encarnación, president of the minority PRN party, a part of the ruling party coalition, shows why that type of person should never head any Government agency.

“Encarnación’s statements for me are the reasons why he shouldn’t have been designated in any function," he said in reference to on the PRN president’s allegaion on Tuesday that he had been the victim of a “rip-off” in Fernandez’s designations in government posts, after his have didn’t appear in the decree as head of the Price Stability Institute (Inespre).

They need to fix INESPRE or get rid of it! It used to serve an important function, but nowadays it does nothing for the people and the stores are locked up or empty.
