The pedestrial walk at the Pedernales border crossing.
Elías Piña, Dominican Republic.- Army reinforcements were sent to the area along the Dominican-Haiti border, after the incidents that occurred in the last few days in the neighboring nation.
The commander of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Brigade based in San Juan (southwest) confirmed that more troops are now in the posts 135 kilometers apart from Pedro Santana to Hondo Valle.
Felipe Henríquez Molina said the strip under his command is in complete calm despite the former Haitian soldiers’ protests in the community Ouanaminthe last week, where the ex military surrendered to authorities after occupying a Haitian army installation.

Common sense.............

It was just a bunch of disgruntled ex-soldiers demanding reinstatement in a civil protest. There was no violence or hostility. After negotiations they were sent away from Cap-Haitien and Ouanaminthe (Juana Mendez) on yellow school buses. No harm no foul.

dang are you kidding, did you see the pictures of those guys ! come on now that's not a threat. these guys were already scared of their own police force do you really believe they could fight an army. matter of fact DR doesn't have anyone in the caribean that can consider as a threat we should focus on better our people and progess instead of showing military powers, those days are in the pass. However i do belive the nation should always be ready in case these idiots decided to do something stupid.
From: United States, Spring Valley, NY
Your absolutely right anaki99....But then again DR's military poses no threat to any Carribean nation either.

Two millions have invaded DR thus far and approximately more than 100,000 cross into DR every year! We have a every freaking right to react, deport, control and shoot on site violators of the 285 and JCE issue #7. That hell with all the prohaitians! One the poster mentioned that the FFAA is threat to our pocket, well don't forget what has Haiti gone through thus far (not over yet) for disbanding their army. You must use the concept of organized welfare to keep unemployment from committing ill acts and helping them to be become better humans by serving the nation while getting paid. If you are referring to corruption at the border, that is another story.

The greatest achievement has already been achieved and can not be achieved by anyone in this world To be the First nation to successfully lead a slave revolt against its oppressors and WON Last time someone attempted to do so and failed it was Moses and God himself came down to help him and we Haitians we did it without splitting the red sea. or any other BS miracles just with the sweat, blood and tears of our forefathers. Now that's something that should be proud of for eternity. because it can not be undone and no one on this earth can ever say that they had done so before not even Moses.. Come on now dog you are talking to Rom1804 here don't make me go further I'm a history buff.

Even Spartacus failed but we Haitians we succeeded. Notice I didn't even mention that we are first Black Republic I just took it a little higher. Because we Haitians are the best. No offense it doesn't matter if you have the richest nation in the world but what have you done with your riches? Did you try to change the world or fatten your pockets. What man is a man if he doesn't try to change the world around him for the better during his lifetime. What nation can call themselves great if they do not fight for the betterment of the world. We Haitians during our short lived Domination we Help changed the world for the better including your sorry axx country. If Haitians were selfish and we did concentrate all of our resources in providing for our people only when we were on top Latin America wouldn't even exist as it does todays and you would be speaking Creole right now Rubi you Idiot.

Well, Rom, if there's something that your dear Dessalines could have been accused of, is of the charge of breaking his word, because, had he made good on his oath, he would have taken care of getting rid of the american and british merchants stationed on the Cap and Port Au Prince, which were busy plotting and conniving with his enemies (specially the brits with Christophe). That attitude would be the chief cause of his eventual downfall, as it happened to the french under Leclerc and Rochambeau.
