For centuries, actually millenia the law of the sea was that anything that was abandoned by the owners is free for the taking.

The damn indians as you refer to our original inhabitants, shouldn't have been deprived of these treasures to begin with. There's no reason why they should have to go to the bottom of the ocean to recover it because it shouldn't have been there to begin with. If the treasure is discovered and salvaged, it should be returned to the original rightful owners (the Dominicans) since that's where they stole it from.

Oh and by the way, we paid double for it. Once by losing our resources from OUR SOIL and secondly, by paying with our people's lives during the robbery.

NO you are not clever just an American that owns the world - not one of the oil companies u mentioned are either V, B or E based, hence have no rights to any wells of these countries. They might borrow the wells for a mere 75% tax to these countries or they can come to the North Sea where they WILL pay that amount of tax. You see here we do not accept this exploiters to fu. The other story is that these companies have been ripping off all of LA/C by bribes to governments ruled by the US, but these countries are now in charge themselfs. Having worked in Venezuela on two of the large heavy oil projects, perhaps I can shed some light as to how the agreements were written. Conoco was first with Petrozuata and they agreed to build an upgrader with an investment of 3.6 BILLION Dollars and in return they were to recieve 50% of the Syncrude as payment on investment for 10 years, then 25% for an additional 10. You have to remember when they built this a barrel of oil was only at $20. During the construction phase of the project 9000 people were employeed and an additional 1200 were permentantly employeed after commisioning and start up. Now how would you feel if you made a deal with a country, company or individual and after you invested all of you capitol they stuck into your rear-end and said thank you now leave.

Beeing an oil company wouldnt you say they are interested to explore the oil resources around the world to make a decent profit, not stealing them from the owners. Or would u rather see these companies hire u to go to Greenland to dig ice to sell to world hence the lack of water.

I understand all this will be very difficult for u to understand beeing a texan brainwashed to believe if u are from USA everything in this world is up for you to grab for as little as possible.
