SANTO DOMINGO.- The country’s antinarcotics agency (DNCD) unleashed a war of words after its director today called the denunciation against the agencies which fight drug trafficking "frivolous and irresponsible," specifically in the city Bani (south) where what’s now called the “Bani bloodbath” took place early Tuesday, with seven men shot dead.
DNCD president Rafael Ramirez regretted that those who made it also implicate the Police, becuase "they’ve never approached us to warn us of anomalies of that nature," in response to senator Wilton Guerrero’s allegation that the DNCD, the Police and the Justice Ministry in Peravia province "serve drug trafficking."
He said if they have concrete evidence they should cooperate with the authorities instead of making that type of denunciation. He said the responsibility for the war on drug trafficking must be assumed by all, “much more if is men public figures with such important positions."
“It’s regrettable that this occurs…our men and women gamble their lives every day confronting narcotics traffickers, despite that one or two agents sometimes fall into temptation, but to say the DNCD serves drug trafficking is irresponsible,” Ramirez said.
The official said there’s zero tolerance in the DNCD, “because when we uncover something, when we suspected an agent accepts money from someone they are dismissed on the spot and even brought up on charges."
Police announce arrests
The Police relieved all its agents in Paya, Peravia province, after the killing of 7 men, and arrested several people, among them a woman said to have romatic ties with one of dead and man who resides in the capital’s upscale Piantini sector, as the investigation into the "bloodbath" unfolds.

Texas, you are absolutely correct. Everyone gets paid. Now all of a sudden they want to fire all the agents. The problem is a deeper one. It has to do with how much these "agents" get paid by the governement. I am sure they all took bribes and quite frankly if I had a family to feed and making peanutes I will accept money to look the other way.

We all have a responsibilty, but he has an obligation. The fact he relieved all the agents in BANI shows, that hey were either actively helping the drug enterprise, or looking the other way, with a few bucks in their pockets.
We are in a drug war where about 25% of our soldiers are traitors to the cause, (PN, DNCD, Etc.).
The General knows it. They had weeks of information on two small time slobs who had 500 decks of crack in Villa Altagracia and were shot in INTERCAMBIO. But, could not find info on a group of seven foreigners who bought a house cash from the daughter of the former DNCD director and paid for 5 vehicles cash. Had an apartment in NACO and Piantini and Sattelllite dishes all over their roof. Watch the ex-General now say he had a lien on the house and get it back.
The sad part folks, as Al Jolson (old crooner) would say. You aint seen nothing yet.

What we need is is change, change the old ways for new ways. That way the change will be the change we are looking for. And once we make that change, it will be us who have made it and we are the ones we have been waiting for to make that change anyway.
So sad, the corruption is at all levels. Now he may really want to do something but will be persuaded not to because thats the way it is.

We are overlooking the CORRUPTION within the UNITED STATES .. the extreme corruption that has allowed narcotics manufacturers .. narcotics users .. narcotics traffickers .. to operate with impunity INSIDE the UNITED STATES. How could a country such as POWERFUL as the UNITED STATES .. in command of such a large police and military force watch helplessly while their citizens continue to use and die from NARCOTICS? What went wrong? What is the DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY DOING with all the taxpayer dollars? Where is the MONEY going? Iraq? Afghanistan? Is that why the US is losing the war on drugs? And has turned to blaming the Dominican Republic and Colombia?

For the Love of Money is the Root of all Evil....I Timothy 6:10.
The whole world has become corrupted not only by the drugs, but by the "dirty money" it provides.
There is a large percentage of people in the world that will do anything for money: Strip naked, prostitute themselves, kill, steal, embezzle; And all these are combined in the dirty biz that is the drug trade - Where you can't trust your partners, the stick up artists (tumbadores), or the authorities. So, it's a complicated dilemma. But, many people have lost all sensibility, morals, ethics, and self respect, which has led them to want to live "the lifestyle of the rich and famous". They will kill, and be killed for the opportunity to "keep up with the Joneses". They want to be rich! It matters little to them who they must trample, mame, or kill. It's the ultimate power trip. I agree we are losing the war. We should change our focus. All has been tried. There are no new strategies. We should unleash the most ruthless, low level, back stabbing, take no prisoners, no holds barred offensive. AMERICAN ENTERPRISE and BUSINESS. They will out corrupt, out bribe and out price the cartels. Phillip Morris - Marijuana , Pifzer- Cocaine, Glaxo Smith - Heroin.
They will bring the cartels in line in a year. They can do for drugs what United Fruit did for bananas and Dole did for pineapples. Exploit the land and people.

There will be an option in 2012 if you want order to return to this country. I just hope he won't be like Hugo Chavez, but he is pro-business so I guess he's not. Starting August 16, 2008 you'll hear more from him. God, this country should return to the times when we could sleep with our front doors open. I rather fear the authorities and our laws than fear the thousands of criminals roaming our streets.

After reading this article, I want to vomit!
I have lived in both the USA and the RD the drugs and thugs in the RD is far worse than the USA. The US locks up Dominican criminals and then deports them. The DNCD accept them back home and tell the drug dealers and murders back to the RD and tell them to go home to their mothers and have some san cocho.... They know these men will organize and be back in the drug game soon but the RD Gov officials actually faciliate this porcess but then later hide their hands.
This Jefe above is a Big hypocrite. Come by the DNCD Notre office in Santiago and see agents in air conditioned offices or coming from a 3 hour lunch in an SUV. They do NOT want to do what they are gettng paid to do. They are the partners in crime.
Community groups have gone to the DNCD offices to report crime, drug houses, deal names etc. Absolutely NOTHING was done. The local police even told Tigres which citizens complained about them.
