LF ...... This country is closed until further notice.
DR CONGRESS. .. How can you close us down on what grounds.
Leonel.... I am shocked, shocked, to find out, that there is corruption in this country.
Diandino...... Mr. President here is your 10% of the contracts on the new train.
LF.... Oh yes, thank you.

Good point... Why didn't LF ask for money to stop corruption, may be he would not need so much oil.
Because Dominicans believe corruption is good, so much so, they are completely transparent about it. And wear the title as a badge of honor.

For the contrary, the higher the country score the further away from being the #1 corrupt nation in the world, so being number 102 is not bad, read the report.
From: United States
santanar, i am not a guy who usually posts without reading, so you need not implore me to read the report. reading is not what is important; comprehension is the key thing. here is how this study works. the base number is 10. the countries with scores closest to 10 are considered least corrupt. so DENMARK, SWEDEN , SINGAPORE score 9.3. the farther awy you go from 10, the more corrupt you are perceived to be. so a country with a score of 4.3 is less corrupt than one with 3.5. understand it now? and 102 is deemed more corrupt than 65.

Maybe that is what happenned with LF and his cabinet, they got confused and went the wrong way with the numbers on the chart. See there was an explanation for it, lets name a commission to investigate why we went down er, up, whatever on the transparency chart.
It could also be due to poor translation and they mistook transparent for invisible and thought no one could see them being corrupt.

I will keep away from using sarcasm in any of my post from now on due to the fact that some people here, specially the rastafari genius can’t resist the chance to jump in anyone comments and insert their so call knowledge of the topic.
If you look closely at the source of this list you will find that the base of this study solely relies on surveys and perceptions indexes with no actual facts or paper trail to document the actual corruption, there is no a mathematical formula to determine how really corrupt are this countries. For example take a look at St.Lucia population as of 2006 166,014.
Small island and small country how corrupt are they (21) compared to D.R population 9.365 million (102).

If you know anything about ratios and % you’ll find that considering the population and government size of this little island the D.R is less corrupt than a lot of this countries on the list.

trinitario, for someone so uneducated as yourself, it is really unbecoming to cast aspersions at others. firstly, you could not even interpret correctly how the rankings were arrived at when you first read the article. here is the rub, trinitario. the sizes of the countries have nothing to do with corruption. if that was the case, we could prepare an index simply by listing countries in order of size. the sampling methodology is consistent for all countries. the size does not matter. the criteria on the questionnaire are the same for every country. actually, i have no idea of what you are trying to say. why don't you get one of your friends who went to school to unravel it for you. then we can continue this little discourse. by your logic, since this country has 9 million people, we should rank at the same level as all countries with 9 million. say it ain't so, trinitario.

To kill your argument quickly and without wasting anytime trying to remove your hater mask I must first give you the definition of perception.
a.-Recognition and interpretation of sensory stimuli based chiefly on memory.
When you base your argument base on human perception you are bound to debate and debate until the end of time, why; because your result will be always inconclusive. There is no need for me to show you any econometric model or to explain the methodology behind any T.I surveys or indexes.
Perception base argument never achieve accuracy only a close measure.

trinitario, the first rule of intelligence; "when you are in a hole, do not keep digging". i know you are trying hard to make a point of some sort, but you are muddying the waters by trying to deliver an insult at the same time. second rule of intelligence; "if you cannot improve on silence, remain quiet". nobody will fault you for it. but your insistence to continue this little debate, for which you are not equipped, is making you look silly. so, rule number 3; " BETTER TO BE THOUGHT A FOOL, THAN TO OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND REMOVE ALL DOUBT". those are your lessons for the month, since i know it is too much for you to digest in a single evening. because, trinitario, there are many other scenarios to a mistaken shooting than the one you describe. there are situations in which you can perceive something, and the perception proves to lead to an incorrect conclusion on your part. and no, i will not be billing you for these lessons.
From: United States
so, trinitario, i leave you with this, with all good intention. the definition of perception is "the process of making sense of the world around you". that depends on many factors, depending on who you are. it depends on sensory system, age, health, fatigue, and, in the case of women, their female cycle. women react differently to the same stimulus, depending on the time of the month. does the condition PMS mean anything to you? there are also social, cultural, and other behavioral factors. the same person can perceive the same issue differently from day to day, and from hour to hour. that is why some married couples fight over issues that others find insignificant. there ends my free lesson for the day. if you need more learning, go to google. you have a pc

Corruption has been going on for years and until someone with a firm hand stops it this problem will continue. People are not held accountable for there actions and that is the problem; if the police were paid a descent wage I believe corruption won't be as bad. How do you expect someone to be paid very low wage with high inflation and crime to do a honest job. I am against any corruption, but it starts with government first; they need to pay those positions much better. D.R. gov't mismanages hundreds of millions of dollars and it won't stop until people are put in jail and the assets seized.
