SANTO DOMINGO.- The Cuban Elvis Benítez, son of the fugitive Jose Manuel Benítez, wanted in connection with a US$110 million fraud against the United States social security system Medicare in Florida, was arrested yesterday upon arrival in the country’s Las Americas International Airport.
The foreigner arrived aboard Cubana de Aviacion flight 200, and was immediately detained by a contingent headed by the fraud’s investigator in the country, Alejandro Dipré Sierra and Immigration authorities.
Elvis Benítez was taken in the afternoon to the Justice Ministry where he was interrogated. He figures as a shareholder of several companies created by the Benítezes in the country and that the U.S. authorities affirm were used to launder the money from the fraud.
His father, Jose Manuel Benítez, figures as direct purchaser of diverse real estate properties, among them a portion of 3,000 square meters in the tourist zone of Higüey (east).
More than 50 properties have been seized from Carlos, Luis and Jose Benitez so far; hotels, lots, yachts, boats, apartments and a helicopter, among them.

These are KGB, Cuban Espionage trained operatives; That's how they roll.
Can a street level criminal amass or organize a $100 Million scam without training, and precise coordination. This was no bodega stick up. These are international level professionals; Something like the infamous "El Chacal", or Carlos Lehder!
Stop leaving the gates (el porton) wide open to allow any Tom Dick and Harry to enter the nation so they can spend a couple of dollars. No vale la pena!
