Santo Domingo.– The Dominican authorities still maintain the alert issued yesterday for the northern part of the country as Tropical Storm Hanna leaves the territory with risks of triggering floods, landslides and heavy rainfall.

Despite being located about 90 miles southeast of Great Inagua Island and about 115 miles southwest of Grand Turk Island, at 4 a.m., Hanna will bring significant rain and could regain hurricane intensity by Thursday.

Hanna is drifting toward the north near 2 mph. A gradual turn toward the northwest is expected to begin later today with an increase in forward speed forecast to occur the next two days.

In the meantime, storm trackers continue to follow tropical storms Ike and Josephine, still far out in the Atlantic. Ike is expected to become a hurricane sometime today.
