SANTO DOMINGO. - The agreement between the Dominican and New York prosecutors began to unfold Monday when it was learned that four of Quirino Paulino’s children and their mother left the country and headed to the U.S. as part of its Witness Protection Program.
Diomaris Marmolejos Feliz and her four children left the country Thursday for the United States, said her lawyer Dorka Medina. “My client and her four children left the country last Thursday to see Quirino and I believe that they’ll remain to live there.”
She said the passports of seven of Marmolejos’ relatives are being issued so they can leave the country and await only the visa.
She also revealed that they’ve asked third parties who have Quirino properties to return them to their legitimate owner, including a farm located in the community Paya, Baní (south), and several apartments.
Quirino collaborated with U.S. federal authorities in exchange for his relatives’ security, whereas the Dominican Government has provided strict protection to his closest ones.
Marmolejos and her children’s exit from the country occurs after the National District Office of the Prosecutor dropped the charges of laundering RD$400 million against her and other Quirino relatives, among them his brother Quirilio Paulino; Zaira Castillo (mother), Anderson Paulino Ubrí (son), Ricardo Encarnacion and Felicita Consuelo Medrano Mercedes.
Next Thursday the Office of the Prosecutor is expected to drop the charges against Quirino’s wife, Belkis Elizabeth Ubrí Medrano, who was already sentenced to five years in prison.

It'd seem crime does pay as El Captain keeps all of his wealth accumulated before 1998 & family ultimately gets American citizenship. It's good at least to see where my US tax dollars are going.
It's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G to see that it actually took 4+ years for the DA to hammer out this deal! I guess Paulino is a tougher negotiator than the US Gov.
Meanwhile, as our Gov deals with the 4 year old Paulino case now new middlemen drug lords have increased their role to fill the Paulino void. Also informed US Embassy anti narcotics BUT they were "worthless bureaucrats";
Also informed local police but they said it was a drug problem for DNCD (not a police issue).

I have a deal I would like to make as well, please give my fiancee his visa and let him come to the United States so we can grieve my miscarriage together and I will continue to be a law abiding, tax paying citzen........

Very dissapointed with his family protection, since none of them are US citizen, and US tax payers have to flip this bill.
This is one of the biggest bull S*it we have to put with as tax payer, "no deal, no protection".
Drug's, specially "Cocaine" it's a "Weapon of Mass Destruction", it hurts the community, families and health.
I will like to hear a good reason for this deal, why we didn't send this "Rat" to "Gizmo".

I came late to this forum, so I do not have all of the background in this case. However, the level of concessions extended by the US to the defendant, being that he may be a lesser player than purported to be, raises obvious suspicions.
