SANTO DOMINGO. - Senate president Reinaldo Pared said Tuesday his colleague Alejandro L. William hasn’t informed the Senate on his judicial situation over an alleged Medicaid fraud of an undisclosed amount in the United States, reports newspaper listin.com.do.

The lawmaker, who affirmed that he spoke with the legislator by phone and was he would fly to the United States today to return Thursday, said if necessary a commission would investigate William’s situation, who allegedly faces a federal probe in the U.S.

Senator Hans Vieluf said William –who keeps a low profile and rarely attends the Senate sessions- was in his Senate office yesterday and reacted surprised at the allegations.

The legislator, of San Pedro de Macorís (east) of the PLD party, spends most of the time in the United States, where he’s a dental health professional.

Impeachment and public flogging is in order. He must resign as a senator also and pass on the post to more worthy Dominicans, that will legislate to benefit the majorities.
Like for example José Francisco Peña Guaba who really needs the daily "diet" petty cash that is awarded to senators while this other guy is in the states and not making good use of it.

This is becoming almost like the scandal of the hour. Almost too funny, if it were not for it being the truth. Nobody can make this crap up. It appears that most prominent Dominicans are nothing but scum, greedy, feable minded folks. The Good prominent folks (the few that exist, if there are any) are weak as well, for not standing up and denouncing these acts of corruption and greed, all for the almighty peso/dollar/euro...

Are you guys surprised that a professional in the US with Dominican roots can buy an election? I am sure he votes even though absent (i.e. absentee ballot) or just goes & votes the party line via a proxy thus can be absent most sessions. Remember this is the DR.

Weren't these people of this area just marching in peaceful protests for clean water but police shot innocent youth playing basketball nearby? I wrote back then, if these protestors were whites in Soviet Georgia then our US Embassy would be in an uproar! But since our US Embassy in the RD is "WORTHLESS" nothing happened!

Now we see why these peaceful demonstrators did not have representation with at the RD Gov level. It all makes sense.

Even though he is not there I am almost certain all of his petty cash allotment for Senators is spent! And if you recall this is a very sizable amount.

It is because of incidents such as this that my confidence in Leonel's ability to lead has been dimished so significantly in recent months. That's truly too bad because I've been a staunch supporter for many years. Esto es el colmo. The guy is a senator in the DR and also a practicing "dental health professional" in the states -- unreal. I'm slowly coming to the realization that my dream of returning to live in my beloved country is just not going to be doable. I can't see myself being able to take such blatantly corrupt actions. Someone did notice, I actually read this story a few months back when some other politicians complained about him living in the States, but since he's PLD they were trying to keep it hush-hush, so it was in and out of one of the lesser-read papers in a day. Guess now that he's involved in the Medicaid fraud, Leonel's people have to face up to the shame.

Look this guy has been under NY State Medicare investigation for a while. He had a bunch of non licensed DR dentist doing work. He opened 4 clinics in 3 years.
He was recruited and paid money to Morla then Diputado and Now Gov of San Pedro and Jay Payano the Sports Secretary. Remember the scandal about them stealing a bunch of votes from los LLanos and "cheating" Josesito Hazim the PRSC candidate.
HAZIM did not want to run again, he wanted a presidential Bid. But PRSC ANTUN and Amable Aristy, forced all to run. Hazim asked for a recount but the PRSC did not agree, since the other 2 wanted to push him out for their own reasons. ANTUN-HAZIM are both from SPM and never really got along. Amable gave up his senate seat to stay stealing in Liga Municipal.

Senator investigated in US?

There are rumors that the Dominican Senator Alejandro Williams (PLD-San Pedro de Macoris), is being investigated by US authorities for possible Medicaid fraud. Senate President Reinaldo Pared Perez said he is willing to launch an investigation into William's dealings, while maintaining that he only has limited details on the Williams case. Pared says he's spoken with Williams, who informed him he would be back for Thursday's session. Listin Diario points out, however, that Williams could not be allowed to leave the US while his case is being investigated. The newspaper adds that Williams is leading somewhat of a double life. The Senator is a dentist by trade and owns a clinic in the Bronx, New York, "Medical Dental Office Dr. Alejandro Williams," where he treats at least 50 patients per day.

Williams has served as the senator for San Pedro since 2006. Listin mentions that Williams is frequently absent from the Senate and is officially recorded as being absent 33% of the time. A former secretary for Williams says the Senator has become a master of excuses, taking the "excuse" letter and changing the dates and resending it to Senate president Pared Perez. Members of the San Pedro community consider Williams one of the province's "worst senators ever" and say he is rarely available. Student Michelle Cano is quoted as saying that it is no mystery that Williams lives outside the country and does no work for the community. Listin quotes Williams as saying, "that Senate position means little to me. What I earn in a month as a senator I earn in a day here." Williams had campaigned successfully on the ruling party PLD ticket against veteran PRSC senator Jose Hazim, pledging to bring an extension of the state UASD to San Pedro.

One thing I have to say about the PLD. They are not as brutal and dangerous as Hipoloco's
cronies were when they were in power.
If we have made all these comments during his term we would have been long time ago in chains in a dark dungeon and with black blue marks all over our bodies.
Remember the two radio announcers in Montecristi that were picked up personally by the chief of police in a helicopter because they made a radio survey of what would Dominicans prefer Hipoloco or "El Diablo" and people chose Satan hands down. Well they were arrested and thrown in jail and had the scare of their life.
