SANTO DOMINGO.- All but one of the Central Electoral Board’s judges (JCE) consolidated their representation, extra work days and fuel perks in their salaries, readjustment which raises their base pay to between RD$330,000 and RD$370,000 per member.

Added to the consolidation of the wages applied in December, is a RD$10,000 increase in representation expenses and a similar disbursement for fuel.

From now the presidents of the JCE, Julio Cesar Castaños, of the Administrative Chamber Roberto Rosario and of the Arbitration Chamber, Mariano Rodriguez, will get RD$374,497.60 every month.

Previously their base pay was RD$227,500, of which RD$66,497.60 was for extra days of work, RD$35,000 for representation expenses and RD$30,000 for fuel, for a total of RD$354,497.60.

The electoral court members Eddy Olivares, John Guilliani, Cesar Féliz Féliz, José Ángel Aquino and Leyda Margarita Piña will receive monthly wages of RD$331,882.60, after adding the RD$195,000 base pay, RD$53,382.60 for extra work days, RD$31,500 for representation and RD$30,000 for fuel.

As to judge Aura Celeste Fernandez, will receive only the base pay since she had refused to be paid the travel allowances per work hours and representation expenses.

Previously the citizens had access to the judges’ salaries and incentives through the JCE Web site, but it was modified and now shows only those of some departmental employees and supervisors.

All these institutions do the same thing...In the U.S is no different just not in the open as in DR and other country's. This is an example of the abuse in the system and people no longer have the power to fight corruption in the government nor in any institution. Let them do what they want...

It never ending and people have already gotten used to being robbed in front of their faces. Nothing we can do but post it in a newspaper.

bernies: brootto,

Believe me guys there is no greater cynic and distrusting SOB than me. So when I tell you, Aura and Guillermo are the real deal they are!

But don't take my word for it ( Oh caca, I am going to pay for this from Chaumcey), as Ronald Regan would say, trust but verify.

So gentlemen do some research and if you find something negative on these two outstanding individuals please let me know I will be the first to METRO them, if you know what I mean!

As long as you have the remuneration of public offices controlled by those who receive the funds, youwill have this uncouth manipulation of salaries and add-ons.
Salaries of Public Servants should be set by the Legislature after full justification is made in support of the base salaries/add-ons.
The way this country's government works is that you have given autonomy and carte blanche to these officials.
if any of you think you have any control over such sysrematic manipulations, you are aa bigger fool than I think you are for allowing it to begin with.
You get what you have voted for, so quit your bitching an accept it, OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

I really like to see people showing greatness amond so many people who priorarised their interes for fortune accumulation and place in a far position the service the fellow countrymen. Is that kind of behavior which have to be price and comunicate to the public in order the young people could see themseve in this mirrow. We need to plant decency to get a morally strong new gereration.

I think people is tired of the same crap, and I believe in pacific revolutions, like voting and make a change. People usually vote for one of the big parties, because they don't like "botar su voto". We should change that way of thinking, we should vote to make a difference to let our silent voices say to governments we don't want this anymore, we need a change and that's why I am voting for, yes, Guillermo Moreno and Aura Celeste are bullets proof. We definitely don't need another Trujillo.

Thought DR was a poor country. These salaries are outrageous and on par with income of a state supreme court justice in US [a monumentally rich country!]. This is really appalling......they are running the country's coffers dry. Man, it is tough to be a Dominican at present.....so much usurpation of power, corruption and stealing, not to mention rampant drug problem....I am damn mad-mad as hell! Basta!!!!!!!

They soon will consume about 25% of our small GDP. The government purchases produce from producer, but the government never pay them, so I do not how they stay in business. The postman of Inposdom never get paid, I do not how he finds money to survive? They are many government employees that never get paid or get paid 3 or 4 months later, so I do not understand why the electoral judges raise their own salaries.

I did not bother to read all of the above, thus forgive me if I am repeating something.
Part of quote... "and RD$30,000 for fuel".

Lets do the math....gas is...lets say....112RD per gallon. That means that they get an allowance for 267 gallons of gas a month. Lets say....the average MPG is 20. This means that the fuel allowance is equal to 5,337 miles. Divide that by 20 days...the average work days in a month...that means they drive 268 miles a day...or at an average speed of 40mph ( highway/city)....6.7 hours a day. Seeing that most take an hour for lunch (being generous here), that means that 7.7 hours of a day are spent driving and eating. As the average work day is 8 hours...this means that the actual time spent working is .3 hours a day.

Where do I sign up????
