SANTO DOMINGO. - The Emergency Operations Center (COE) yesterday reported 47 traffic accidents involving 71 motorcycles and 19 vehicles during the New Year’s festivities, when six people died and 127 were injured.

The COE said 15 people were hospitalized for alcoholic overdose and three for food poisoning.

Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Samaná, La Vega, Monte Plata and the National District are the provinces reporting the most cases so far, as well as the municipalities Higüey and Nagua.

The total toll for the holidays will be announced at 11:00 a.m. today Friday in the National Palace.
