Santo Domingo.– The country celebrates today Wednesday the day of La Altagracia, spiritual matriarch to many Dominicans, as thousands of people from all corners of the nation head to Higuey (a city in the east) to honor the Virgin, a tradition which began with an alleged apparition of Mary's image several centuries ago.

People of all ages and economic strata head to the Our Lady of La Altagracia Basilica, located in the province which takes her name, to take offerings or fulfill promises made to the Virgin.

Have some respect for the "Virgen de la Altagracia" and her special day and do not mock Dominicans or their beliefs in the holy mother of Christ.
Just because you do not believe in "la virgencita" you do not have to ridicule us who do believe in her. Do not make fun of the holy cathedral in Higuey and catholic believers, but you don't know the meaning of the word "decency".
Stop your liquor intake when you are next to computer keys so not to denigrate further your already sad existence.

People, People please just pray:

Dear father who art in heaven please let my finance get his K-1 visa soon so we can be together. Please help the American government see that we should not be rewarding Quirino Paulino for his crimes. Please help Linoel see that we should not be putting no more money on his METRO project and rather use said money to educate our people in DR. Please help our children gain more access to bithcontrol methods. Please let our missing people be in Cuba and not lost at sea or worse. and please please let my fiancee get here soon. AMEN
