EL PASO.- Colombian and Dominican drug organizations have been detected in El Paso, in addition to the Mexican drug cartels, according to the National Drug Intelligence Center's report titled "National Drug Threat Assessment 2009," newspaper elpasotimes.com said.

“The center's report also said Mexican drug cartels have members operating in El Paso, Las Cruces, Deming, Columbus and Albuquerque. The center is an independent component of the U.S. Justice Department, with offices in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.,” it said.

Travis Kuykendall, executive director of West Texas High-Intensity Drug-Trafficking Area, said he's familiar with the report, which is furnished to Congress each year.

"However, I'm not aware of any Dominican drug traffickers in the (El Paso) region," said Kuykendall, a retired DEA official. "The Colombians, yes, because they supply most of the cocaine supplied to the Mexican drug cartels."

Dominicans, Colombians vs. the Mexican cartels, this has the makings for a war on the Iraq scale! I gotta think the Mexicans have the edge here.

Josean, platanos and aguacates go great together. why wouldn't mashed and flavored aguacates with mashed and flavored platanos tasted even better?

Regarding there being any truth to this report, I would not be surprised. I've been to many places in the US and everywhere you least expect to find a Dominican you find one and usually where there is one of us there are more. I've bumped into other Dominicans everywhere i've been to -Texas, California, Colorado, Virginia, Florida, Maryland, Boston, Washington, Canada, even freaking Alaska.

A few years ago I was working as a production assistant in Landcaster, Pennsylvania where I saw some Latin people in a local Walmart and when I heard one girl tell her mom "mami eta baina ta muy cara" I burst out laughing. I mean this is freaking Amish country, what the hell were fellow Dominicans doing there? Later I found out there is an entire Dominican community of hundreds probably thousands of Dominican leaving in Landcaster.

There are Dominicans throughout the Lehigh valley and nearby areas. I used to own property near Allentown myself up until a few years ago. Most of the Dominicans in the area didn't migrate there from directly DR but are, for the most part, NYC tranplants.

For better or worse I do know of Dominicans in El Paso TX. I use to live in El Paso TX when I got stationed there in Dec 1996 till June 2005. The first few Dominicans I met were on the base and most of them were from Washington Heights like myself. In 1998 I met the first civilian Dominican (not in the army) thru another New Yorker that was in the "business" and he was set up for making major shipments. As the years went by I met more and more of them thru mutual friends. They all for the most parts were students, truck drivers, soldiers, or spouses of soldiers. Drugs is a big business in El Paso and being the biggest entry into the US it will continue to be along with all those other border towns in texas and Arizona.

You guys never heard of "Los hermanos Polanco" they were responsible of smuggling tons of cocaine through Mexico for 15 years. Dominican's have been operating on the border for a long time. These guys were busted with $15 million dollars worth of coke wholesale in New York in 2000 crazy.
