Santo Domingo.- The District Attorney for the National District Alejandro Moscoso Segarra has admitted that the fact that many of the detainees being held in the capital lack identity documents is a major problem, and in order to tackle this, they have started taking biometric details from prisoners taken to the Palace of Justice at Ciudad Nueva.

This process is being coordinated with the Central Electoral Board (JCE).

“All the prisoners who are in the DA’s preventive custody must go through this unit to leave their fingerprints so we can have greater control” said Moscoso.

The DA added that the lack of documents hinders the effectiveness of justice, an opinion shared by the Assistant DA in Santo Domingo’s Capotillo neighborhood, José Miguel Mejía.

This was done more than 60 years ago by the apartheid South Africa regime in collusion with Israel to control the Blacks, Indians and Coloreds.
