Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernández arrived back in the country yesterday afternoon after attending the inauguration ceremony for the new governor of Puerto Rico, Luis Fortuño.

Fernández was welcomed by army and air force chiefs Lieutenant General Pedro Rafael Peña Antonio and Major General Carlos Rafael Altuna Tezanos, as well as the head of protocol at the Presidency, Roberto Blandino.

Fernández was accompanied by a delegation that included Presidency minister César Pina Toribio, Foreign Relations Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso and Presidential Press Director Rafael Núñez.

His visit to Puerto Rico gave him the opportunity to hold discussions with the authorities to establish a strategic and commercial alliance between both countries.
