SANTO DOMINGO.-  The Constitution Revisory Assembly will void the articles approved in Thursday’s session, in which several of its members  voted fraudulent for their absent colleagues.

Assembly president Reinaldo Pared said as the result of some of his colleagues’ misconduct that voting must be annulled and pledged to propose a review of all the articles approved in the today’s session, to give it greater legitimacy. "The final part of the topic on the Executive Branch and the Judicial Branch will need to be debated again, and voted on again, but for that the Assembly must approve it."

The constitutional reform which various sectors question alleging it suppresses citizens’ rights, was defended this weekend by president Leonel Fernandez and opposition PRD party president Miguel Vargas.

For Fernandez only "a minority of citizens" oppose the Assembly’s decisions and affirmed that the beaches will continue under public dominion, without affecting private property.

Vargas agrees with the chief executive and defended the agreement signed with the ruling PLD, to spur the reform’s approval.

He said there’s been “disinformation" on several aspects approved in the constitutional reform, such as the public dominion over beaches, while respecting private property.

This is all after they voted to make corruption illegal. One could expect they double voted on the corruption law and it wll be voided too. Now they can't be punished. Great fodder for a Hollywood comedy.

Evidently the Legislators are taking a page from the US Congress (both houses) and foregoing reading the content of the bills they are voting on.
Additionally, they are mimicking House Speaker Polosi and trying to ram lagislation down the throats of the populace before contrary actions can be formulated.
Socialists will do whatever it takes to further their agenda. Look at what the leaders of Venezuela, Equador and Chile have done toward that same end.
You want a dictatorship??? Vote for government control of the economy, subsidized everything, and the current incumbents of the Legislative bodies, including the Judiciary.
You already have a failed democracy, so why not go "whole hog".

LF, you empty suit. What is necessary for you to invoke your "Zero Tolerance" rhetoric?

Do these ill educated morons have to kill someone in these meeting for you to do something?

Everybody, with some loose justification, can blame LF, Hippo, Vargas, Ariste, and/or certain other government elected officials for the unfortunate situations they place the country into. But, the failures of this democratic republic ultimately fall back on the people who continue to vote these people into office. Then, nobody has the intestinal fortitude after the fact to bring these people to justice or force recalls.

gmiller261;

The firat thing you must have is constitutional authority to effect your "recall"/"referendum" which the Legislature, in writing the so-called "Constitution" has omitted on purpose.

Where does that leave the uneducated Public???
"Up a creek without a paddle" in a creek full of pirannahas that are always looking for a free meal.

You can't impeach LF he'll just make a presidential decree that says impeachment is illegal, and only god can take away his throne.

I studies their laws for 3 months in hopes I could start a business venture there that will really help people out, all i found were dozens of laws, decrees and amendments that well pretty much contradicted and cancelled each other out.

Why would the country try to adopt US constitutional procedures when the judicial and legistative branches are based on European models?

That's like trying to get pica pollos to sell escargot.

I knew as soon as I saw the faces of the people in the assembly this was going to be a bigger Fiasco than their tax code( how the hell do you miss 1,000 of the riches companies not paying taxes?)
