Santo Domingo.– Guillermo Moreno, who has announced the launch of a new political movement called Alianza Pais, expressed skepticism about the latest accord with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and criticized the Constitutional Reform process.

The former District Attorney told the press his national tour is aimed at mobilizing the support needed for obtaining electoral recognition for the next Presidential elections in 2012. "Alianza Pais would provide voters with an alternative to the mainstream parties," Moreno pointed out.

According to the ex District Attorney, there is no way out and no solution to the national problems with "these traditional parties and their governments, especially since the pact between Leonel and Miguel, who have shared power between themselves and the institutions and have left the sources that feed political clientelism and corruption intact."

Jim,

I respectfully disagree and strongly suggest you arrange to meet him, I have and he is the real deal! Not since Juan Bosch have we had the opportunity of creating real Democracy in DR!

This man left the PLD in LIE-onel Fernandez’s first term because he would not play corrupt ball, which in itself says a lot about his personal integrity!

I think you the Dominicans have a lot in common with my countrymen. Here is a new candidate who proposes something new. You don't even finish to listen to the man and you're already on his back.
In my world, someone is guilty when you present solid evidence of his culpability, if not just go sob.
Leonel has done everything he could to thrust you into the 21st century and what I hear every day on his back is criticism and more criticism.
He build you a modern country, makes you ride a brand new subway system, takes his pan and go to handle it every where in the world in order to seek investment, but you are not still satisfied.
Here is a new candidate that proposes you to do thing differently, even if you know it would be more than a challenge to him, instead of encouraging him and back him up, what I hear is critiscism, criticism. At least we Haitians have a lot more reason to be so bitter with our politicians, but you the dominicans, you are acting like a bunch of cry babies.

oupala07,

My brother I think I am the only Dominican that has posted on this article so far. I generally agree with your argument except for you appraisal of LIE-onel Fernandez who is nothing but a charlatan who is selling the country at bargain basement prices for his personal benefit and those of his cohorts.

However, I have had the privilege and honor of meeting Dr. Moreno and his wife and they are the real deal and his election would constitute an enormous step forward in progress for my country.

If he makes his whole platform to eliminate corruption, I am behind him.

Of course that does mean he will affect every aspect of Dominican life.

Mr. Miller,

I suggest you follow the schedule for his appearances in the US and DR. I am almost sure there will be a location near you where you will be able to question him personally, one on one, regarding his stance on fighting corruption.

Remember this is the guy who LIE-onel Fernandez canned early in his first term because he refused to go along to get along and play corrupt ball.

Well folks, if you have enough of Leonel Fernandez, why don't you give him to us Haitians. He has to visit us this November to come, so just tell him : " Hey! Leonie the Haitians would like to have you as their Head of State for 20 years." I would take him gladly, because he proved to the world that even though he had to bow to one of the most corrupt socio economic and political elite in the region, he has managed to transform his country and showcased it magnificiently to the world.
Meanwhile, the bastards we have back home are a bunch of embezzelers and crooks who not only are stealing our money, but have forced us to accept a foreign occupation that most of us do not want.
So give us Leonie any time, we'll take it, or maybe we can make a trade. What about Preval against Leonel?
