Santo Domingo. - The deputy Julio Romero has a 22 year old son whom he has yet to recognize, although DNA test confirmed a 99.98% paternity, said the journalist Alicia Ortega in her program on Monday, when she contacted Gabriel Eduardo Castillo and his mother Luz Yanina Castle, who live in San José de Ocoa (south).
She also presented the denunciations of two women, one who lives in a South American country and another in the United States, allegedly raped in their adolescence by Romero, who represents Santo Domingo East for the opposition PRD party.
Both women made their statements under anonymity, although both vow to begin legal actions against the legislator, who reacted by denying having committed rape or some sexual act against any woman and attempted to block Ortega’s presentation with a Bailiff’s affidavit delivered the same Monday.
Ortega called the deputy’s action attempted censorship which seeks to intimidate her.
Castillo, who was pregnant by Romero when she was 17, said in different occasions she tried to approach the now lawmaker, who was then a salesman, to present him to his son, but was met with evasion and denials.
Even after the conclusive paternity test Romero has resisted recognizing Eduardo Gabriel Castillo, who has had to drive a moto-taxi to make a living, after dropping out in his third year of high school.
Sentence 166 handed down by San José de Ocoa Justice of the Peace Jose Eliseo Perez on July 10, 2002, orders Romero to provide child support for his son. He also faces paternity and child support suit filed by 18 year old Yuilmi Peguero, also allegedly made pregnant when she was a minor.

This turd has become what the young males of the DR are aspiring to become, A successful man (in society's eyes), without any shame, remorse or decent morals. God help the DR. He needs to be removed permanently, but that will never happen, as he is looked upon by his peers as "a good man". Strange, isn't it?. I call it SAD, very sad indeed... the sadest part, is the lack of outrage I have yet to see from the pueblo/media/government officials...A lost and misguided society as I see it....

@ time2rize.. his 22yr old son he has not claimed is the one who dropped out of high school. Not him.
Your absolutely right Juango, it is sad and even sadder as you stated no outrage from the public, govt or the media on how a scumbag like this is still in office.

The ultimate test of character for a man is how he treats his offsprings! This guy is a low life who probably doesn't even have a high school degree. But yet he is able to hold public office. Put him in Jail.

Lopez31, Great operative word “character”.
The majority of Dominican authorities lack character, moral, mental et al.
You would think, like most civilized societies, that this would embarrass someone who would take action. Nooooooooooooooooo
Not in the DR, they are inbred with the entitlement gene and think NOTHING of this.

Sadly, here in the DR this story is a non sensational story. This is a story most women can tell you of themselves or of someone they know. Has nothing to do with wealth or education in DR. It is standard proceedure. Men here are so out of control that they have broken down the moral standards of the country to a level which is not accepted in many third world countries not just not accepted in western society. The abuse is so wide spread and for so many decades that nobody cares anymore.
AND THATS THE PROBLEM ... NOBODY CARES

There is nothing new or unique about Julio Romero acts of irreverance to put it mildly. There are thousands of Julio Romero's out there in the DR running around lose taking advantage of innocent and naive young girls. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the victims are found isolated, in remote mountain, rural or farming areas away from media access, where in most cases the victim is poor, uneducated and does not know any better or the perpetrator is no one important to be news worthy. The difference with this case is that Mr Romero is a high profile individual who runs for public office and has abused a girl from an urbanized zone in the capital. Unfortunately, for Mr Romero he picked a wrong target thing time. The young girl appears to be somewhat educated, is well spoken, with the ability to talk readily, glibly, and convincingly, but above all had the courage to stand-up and denounce a despicable-coward, dastardly piece of excrement and a poor excuse for a human being.

How pathetic that this poor excuse of a man has the audacity to blame a minor for his debacle! It's statutory rape!. He admits to having a relationship with a MINOR! Send him to Najayo prison in open population AFTER the DNA test comes back positive.
Look at the interview he contradicts himself, first he states that it was only three visits and then he goes onto say a 3 month relationship. How could youhave a relationship? HE'S MARRIED!
DISGUSTING!
This is why the country does not progress!

Can't send him to jail.
Because Dominicans have an inbred entitlement mentality, they think rape like this is normal.
Sickening.
LF and his “Zero Tolerance”. BS. You have to wonder what a Dominican has to do to invoke this.

time2rize,
Thanks for posting interview link.
This man just about represents the sum total of everything I despise in an irresponsible individual with deep feelings of power and entitlement.
The girl and family have been injured, and while clearly being people of modest means, they do seem like proud people. The girl seems totally believable, and I believe her story.
This guy, in my opinion, used his position, power and coercion to subdue this child into having sex with him. This is statutory rape, and he must pay for it. I hope his wife divorces him, and that he is not reelected to his government position. I hope the judge throws the book at him, even if LF pardons him.
I've never seen a more clear display of a perverse sense of false honor. The gall of it all: the man is caught red handed and claims to be honorable, and denies his misdeeds against mounting overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

US State Dept. (Santo Domingo) should cancel his US Visa, if one has been issued. Based on his admission of his actions, are grounds for that. I don't want characters like this visiting the USA.
