Santo Domingo.- The latest scandals involving deputies reveals the weak leadership of Lower Chamber president Julio Cesar Valentin, who’s also questioned for attempting to buy a tax-exempt luxury car, to reportedly resell it and pocket the profit.
His inability to impose order is evidenced when Chamber of Deputies Ethics Commission president Elso Martinez yesterday affirmed that several of his colleagues must resign their posts.
Although he only identified Radhamés Fermín among the lawmakers who should resign their posts for being absent from his duties for more than 2 years, Martinez affirmed other legislators should follow suit for similar faults.
When asked why the Ethics Commission hasn’t proceeded against Fermín and the other legislators, the lawmaker said the lack of quorum has impeded it.
But despite that it was in August when the deputy Radhamés Castro denounced Fermín’s absence and asked Valentin to force the immediate return of the nearly RD$9 million paid to his colleague during that period, the Chamber President has yet to proceed.

Try "No Leadership". These buffoons are ill-educated macho thugs.
I would be surprised if they can tie their shoes in the morning.
However LIE-onel has said they can all redeem themselves if the find the missing 180.000 daily rider for the useless METRO!
Man, that is doctor's income here in US! No wonder the country is in such dire economic shape!
And to think these guys don't need to show up for work for two years, and the boss won't or couldn't fire them?
Remember Bastille!!!!! It is probably coming to DR some day sooon.
Ladrones!!!

Actually, very few people in the Dominican Republic follow the five pillars of character developed by the ancient civilizations.
Lack of quorum, so that means that no one else is there either!!!
I just don't get it.
I feel that in DR I would have to be a Republican:
The smaller gov't is, the better.
