SANTO DOMINGO. - The deputy Julio Rosemary Romero announced Tuesday, via his lawyer Valentin Medrano, that he’ll sue the journalist Alicia Ortega, the producer  of her program El Informe (the Report), Fernando Hasbún, and the women who denounced that he allegedly raped them and/or left them without support for the children they say they bore with the opposition PRD party legislator.

Interviewed in the Z-101 morning radio program, the lawyer of the deputy for Santo Domingo East said the content of Ortega’s program is libelous and has made allegations which are insulting and defamation, affecting Romero’s morale and what he called his good reputation.

“Julio Romero is the target of that program. In all this there’s a political game to jeopardize Julio Romero, who has been affected, it’s libel, a farce,” he said.

How pathetic that this poor excuse of a man has the audacity to blame a minor for his debacle! It's statutory rape either way you look at it. He admits to having a relationship with a MINOR! Send him to Najayo prison in open population AFTER the DNA test comes back positive. DISGUSTING! This is why our country doesn't progress!

He must be really stupid to believe that a woman as smart as Alicia Ortega will get scared by a law sue. I wonder what are the charges and what a judge may say when he hears them it probably goes like this. "Mr Romero you are suing Ms Ortega because she told the truth about you raping a minor, Yes your honor".

Please!! The guy is a rapist and very cheap, he doenst want to admit he made a mistake. With the kind of money he makes, he could afford to buy the baby a house and a car to the mother. He wouldnt be having this kind of trouble.

"admit he made a mistake."

My friend RAPE is not a "mistake" its premeditated criminal offense, especially with a minor.

If Miguel Vargas had any decency he would ask him to resign immediately from his elective office and throw him out of the PRD!

What I am saying is this guy is an alleged perpetrator of heinous criminal act and in any civilized society he should be charged and made to post bail!

In any civilized society, not in this country. the only reason we are talking about it is that the guy is a senator. this happens every day in this country.

That’s my point Dizzy, he needs to made an example of, so the other criminal bums may stop and think; what a minute if the "honorable" senator couldn’t get away with it with his power and connections I may not either.

Dizzy,

I haven’t seen it yet, but someone who did told me the young lady appears to be a little slow also.

Did you notice that as well?

Julio Rosemary Romero!

I hope this is not his real name or that "Rosemary" is his father's surname. If not, then this would be the proverbial case of "a boy named Sue". No wonder he is mad and aggressive toward women....he is mad at his mother for giving him a girl's name!

Perhaps that government official who wanted to limit the naming of newborn children to Spanish sounding names will be proven right after all.

I not only think his mom should be fined for scarring this individual for life by giving him a girl's name, but I also think she should be thrown in jail for the transgression.

Darn, I see way too many weird and mixed names here in DT. Are these campesinos, in a most perverse manner, somehow believing they are being sophisticated by naming boys "Rosemary" or "Temistocles". This is definitely not Dominican, and no one should be allowed to name their child "Temistocles", unless they are Greeker than the Acropolis. Maybe I am just a Neanderthal.
