JIMANI, Dominican Republic. – The authorities have yet to detain as of yesterday the murderers of four Haitians, including a youngster, who were shot Wednesday and then incinerated in a burning pile of trunks to make charcoal on the hill El Bejuco.

The Prosecutor Ruddy Perez Medrano said they had been killed by a group of unidentified Dominicans, which Police last night announced it had located “the people in charge of that horrible crime.”

The Haitian Mesilis Desil, 41, who survived the attack but was a shot in the abdomen, is in the hospital Jaime Mota, where he underwent surgery. Since he doesn’t speak Spanish, through an interpreter said he was chopping down trees together with other Haitians, when the group which shot them arrived, but that does not know what occurred after being shot.

You are a sick bastard for making that type of disrespectful remark.
The crime does not warrant a lynching by anyone.

telemeco, I can only hope you are joking. No one should die for cutting a tree. Jail yes, death no.

I assume you are Dominican.

Why don't you put your support behind having your political rapist incinerated or the other moron who has destroyed your electricity service? Or the other 96% transparently corrupt authorities that have ruined your country more than those trees that were cut.

Oh, I know why, because you all have that inbred entitlement gene.

Let the poor Haitians cut all the trees in Dominican Republic since They need the charcoal back in Haiti, Who knows maybe 20 years from now We will be practicing cannibalism together.

I think that They deserved the lyinching for being stupid in destroying the enviroment, if We continue practicing hummanism in few years We won't have trees in the border and then Who's
going to feel sorry for the Dominicans "NOBODY"

Keep the lyinching and let's teach our Haitian brothers a constructive lesson !

Another small minded view.

I do not feel sorry for the Dominican because you allow daily corruption because you actually feel it is alright.

You talk so macho but NEVER do anything. These people deserved jail not death just like most of your so called leader.

People were afraid of Genghis Khan because of the heads he hung from his horse, which he moved around with. I know in DR people have the:
"Officer: Sir, you parked your car in front of her door, letting nobody out or in; you will have to pay a fine.
Sir: oh but people here do that all the time, so I assume it's not wrong.
Officer: (arrests him)
Sir: (calls for discrimination since the others do it but he can't park his car in front of a house's door)" ("Everyone does it, so it's ok"-rethoric).
Just like raising a kid, you can't let him get away with grabbing some other little girl's parts, otherwise he will get used to it, and in the future he will prob be a serial rapist. You can't slap his hands, because he will think "that's all?". You have to take off the belt and pela-up that kid before it becomes a habit. In the future, you will not be ashamed of your son being a rapist. But if you say "Oh but the pela hurts the kid", it will hurt more when your son goes to jail for rape.

It appalls me that people call for lynchings, evoke future images of cannabalism and other stupidities. It is a tragedy that those Haitians were killed and incinerated, it is a tragedy that they were destroying the ecology by cutting down the trees oblivious to the consequences of their actions or, simply uncaring. Jail time perhaps yes, death no.

people cutting trees should go to jail and any trucks transporting carbon should be impounded and not given back to the owner. Also, fine the owners of the trucks and take away any assets if they can not pay.

The tree cutters should be subject to community service such as replanting missing trees

Don't you remember the bomb USA dropped in Vietnam that killed the almost 5,000 innocent kids but i bet that was all fine a good for you because US did. Killing is not the solution but please to judging others when you are the worse example of killing human beings. Arongance and ignorance are 2 words that describe you perfectly.

If you guys have watched Al GORE's movie where he points out that in Haiti when hit by the same hurricane 100s die and yet DR hit by the same hurricane very few died and what experts said is attribute to the conditions of the enviroment. So if 100 died in Haiti and 10 in DR does the lifes of the 90 people who could have been save doesn't count. If you ask me i rather have 4 dead criminals than 90 innocent kids. The enviroment is more important than any human because it allows the next generations to survive. I wish Haiti make hard choices like this one inside their country hey Maybe in a future Haiti could be a country people want to visit and the ex-countrymen can come back too without being afraid.

Give the poor guy a "slap on the risk" and then send him home on his merry way. We will give him a break this time. Besides he already got shot in the stomach and got the scare of his life, that is a good enough penalty, don't you think?

He is an admitted illegal logger. Does he deserve jail time and then deportation?
Do you think this incident will stop him for good or do you believe he will try it again when the coast is clear and resume to his old ways?

A lot of Dominicans dies by the same result when our government gave green light to the Army for anybody chopping down tree. It happened during Trujillo, it happen during Balaguer It is the main reason why most Dominican will think twice before taking a tree down without permission by the govertment. People here are acting up like this wasn’t the norm back when the govertment was on reeducation mode regarding our environment. Now some people here think that the reason we have the biggest and most diverse eco-system in the Caribbean because of magic.

The Haitian gov. the question is when will they have one because is abvious that there isn't one now as we speak. and i agree the sale or carbon should be made illegal and threated as a criminal offense for the seller and the buyer with a 10,000 pesos fine and up to 1 year in prison then use the money to plant trees

I can not beleive that this is allowed. Many Dominicans think that they are tuff and macho. But look at the real facts we have allowed an invasion of our land and have done nothing. I am shocked that a country of 10,000,000 plus can not protect a small border line

I don't know if anyone read what I wrote on the subject of Haitans cutting down trees on the Dominican border last week. I Said this kind of thig, people taking the law into their own hand, acts of vigilantisim would begin. Illegal immigration is one thing, deforrestation is a whole another issue. Dominicans with extreme views feel their nation is becoming a province of Haiti, again. The killers will never be caught or even looked for. The only good that can come from this tragedy is that other Haitans who might try this dangerous trade will think twice, and choose not to.

First ask yourself this question. Do you think Leonel will risk his image as an international hero? By first deporting in mass the illegal Haitian then all of the sudden he will be called RACIST, XENOPHOBIC, ECT? By the NGO, pro-Haitian, human right, pacifist, humanist, Dominican traitor, International community, ECT the answer is simple HELL NO. Ballaguer took all those shot from these RATS especially the human right watch. Had Balaguer being alive Sonia Pierre would had been deported back to her homeland a long time ago.

Now if we Dominicans can use the same procedure of caught, trial and conviction against politicians we would end up with a much better country in a very short time. I don't agree with killing but is a effective measure to a very ignorant problem of our society. I sure can come up with some politicians names that deserve this kinds of trial as we speak.

As you stated there very clear unless you or your family is in danger now what makes you think the people around the area are not in direct danger now and in future generation. Since when did Vietnam started a war with US as far as i know nobody recently has started any war against USA but USA has started many wars against others and have invaded many countries and have killed MILLIONS around the world but as you stated you only care about you and your family directly not anybody else or any other country. USA has invaded Vietnam, Iraq, Dominican Republic and Afghanistan but some how you think they were wars no mr ignorance those were criminal acts committed by your own people and now you seat there and judge others. once again arrogance and ignorance are 2 words to describe you.

Both parties in this case should go to jail. The time they spend in jail however should be equitable to the crime that was committed. Summarily executing someone without due process in this most heinous manner is a barbaric act that should be condemned by everyone who believes in lawful democracy. The "punishment" in this case simply does not fit the crime. If the "real" issue was destruction of private property and unlawful entry into the country then why shouldn't the punishment be incarceration and re-planting trees? Why should this crime merit torturous execution without due process? Why do people defend the indefensible?

You know a lot of you guys talk so much s**t, talk about lynching, shooting these poor Haitians. Like they committed a homicide or something to that cause. I don't justify their actions but your getting really carried away here. it was 4 individuals, not a construction company destroying 1000 acres. there is a saying if "the ends justify the means". you don't know their necessity, so you can't be quick to judge here, let me ask you telemeco, cyberdragon don't tell me you are so perfect that you've never owned a car (just buying turning your car on your destroying the eco-system) or using aresol sprays, not recylcing, smoking ciragrettes, using drugs, throwing Duracells in the garbage can, and so on. These actions contribute to destroying our ecological system. Like xwill7 said they should be punished by planting say 100 trees for every 1cut down and some jail time. I think most of you's are over reacting this way due to racism and fear of Haitians taking over this country.

Soon we will learn who are really profiting from this charcoal business.
We wiil learn the names of the Dominicans and the Haitians who are picking up Haitians in their jeeps ,have them cut dowm trees to make charcaol . We will learn who are pocketing the money from the sale of the charcoal
We will learn who killed the Haitians that they themselves have employed.
All activities in DR be it the illegal immigration of foreigners or the cutting down of trees to make charcoal happen with the conscent , close supervision, and the participation of some Dominicans.
One thing that we have learned over the years that when it comes to illegal activities Haitians and Dominicans criminals work together. support and protect each other.

Where are the NGO defending the Dominican rights to emigrate and stay in USA, be granted legal status and even American citizenship? Do we complaint and denounce that Dominicans are paid less for their hard labor? As you can see, what happen to Haitians here, happen to illegal aliens all over the word, the only difference is that the rest, unlike Haitians take it like men, not cry poor us, abused, discriminated black victims, who deserve a chance to have a better life in DR, because in Haiti we all would starve and those wicked Dominicans only abuse us because we are black and poor.
