Wilton Guerrero in the Senate. File

Santo Domingo.- Peravia province (south) senator Wilton Guerrero yesterday affirmed he doesn’t fear drug traffickers’ threats against his life because he acknowledges that he’s at war against crime, which can attack “at any time.”

The ruling party lawmaker said he was aware of the denunciation by the ambassador in Spain and journalist Cesar Medina, that Colombian narcotics traffickers hired gunmen to kill him.

In a Senate session, Guerrero revealed that his protection has been reinforced, but reiterated his commitment to fight narcotics traffickers and other criminals. He attributed the threats to "perks of the job" and that he expected them. "We know that drug traffickers can attack those who are in this at any time.”

If Guerrero is a "publicity hound" then this is the best way to get it (publicity). That is having real integrity. This senator is the only one of the few left after Cocco's death.

It is good to see Gov officials more concerned about "doing their jobs" rather than just "keeping their jobs for a government paycheck". Even our US DEA officials in the capital can learn something from this. I wish my senator from Santiago would be as outspoken against police corruption, crime and drugs in our barrios being sold on school routes. My senator from Santiago doesn't give a dam!

And, that is a DAMN SHAME! Blutarsky,. we need more publicity hounds like Guerrero!

Senator Guerrero,

Watch out for the guy from Banistan, he only supports corrupt decadent multimillionaires “En Dollares.”

You’re too decent and honest for him and besides you don't play golf!

I agree this guy is the real deal from what I've seen.

I don't think anything will happen to him if it does I think it would open a can of worms as to the incopetence of the Dominican Police, Military and Gov. at a global level.

If anything happens to him he will be a martyr and i'm sure a new Independista movement will surge from his demise.

I don't think he'll run for president he prob hasn't stolen enough to be even considered in the ballet

I just hope he does not end like the murdered Civil Aeronautics official, Christopher Angel Martinez, who was devoted to doing the right thing. If another murder on a good official occurs, thins SHOULD get ugly because it WOULD BE UNACCEPTABLE

Me: If you don't know then how can you say that someone will regret it???

It's throwing around words and comments such as these that sensationalizes stories. Get facts, period. If you don't have them, then perhaps silence is prudent.

HiHater

Don't be hard on him.

Banistan always tries to take two sides of an argument, unfortunately they are always the two wrong sides but he tries!

I would rather deal with our drug dealers who support our schools and the little people. Than these, thieving politicians who only fill their own pockets [ferdandez and segura and pena and the rest of the swine]. If these politicians are blown up= No loss. There is not one worth crap.....

BASTA's POSTS:

"I would rather deal with our drug dealers..."

"Legalize"

We get your point, you support the drug dealing business. At the same time, you are supporting these thugs, the destruction of innocent lives, the addictions, the destruction of minds that fall into the addiction. All for what? For someone to make easy money at the cost oh human morality and lives?
