SANTO DOMINGO.- National Drugs Control (DNCD) president Rolando Rosado yesterday confirmed that four Colombians were sent to the country to assassinate him and the senator Wilton Guerrero.
“From the antecedents and the intelligence that we manage they have the order to proceed against us and against Wilton Guerrero,” the official said in an interview for the Corripio media group. He said although the information was disclosed now, the situation was uncovered since he assumed the DNCD’s presidency.
He said an investigation is underway prior to the arrest of any suspects and that all the measures have been taken to protect his and Guerrero’s life. “We know that prevention isn’t going to prevent an attempt one hundred percent, but we’re prepared for anything.”
The official said the Central America and the Caribbean intelligence community, formed by Colombian, Venezuelan and the Dominican Republic agencies have sufficient information to detect those situations. “Yes, they are here, but while they are in the country legally, without committing any action, we cannot do more than to work the intelligence those cases require."
Ready to die
The DNCD president affirmed that he isn’t afraid since he’s prepared to make this seem like a game and because he is trained for war. “If I was to lose my life in these tasks I was trained for that, and we are here for that.”
Fewer incursions of drug-laden planes
The incursions of drug-carrying aircraft into Dominican airspace from South America have diminished 64 percent in the last two months, compared with the same period last year, which Rosado attributed to the joint effort by the Police, military aircraft and Navy boats.

Yeah, if the police, military aircraft and Navy boats are now involved, the narcos don't need the drug-laden planes as much.
