SANTIAGO.- Two men who were making a drug deal died last night when they jumped from the 6th floor of a building to escape arrest in Santiago, said the Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) today Thursday.
It said Radhamés de Jesus Peralta Fernandez, 38, and Vianel Antonio Abreu Mercado, 39, passed away at 6:30 p.m. after jumping from the sixth floor of the residential building Trinitario IV, on Jose Manuel Serra street, where DNCD agents seized two packages of cocaine and a pistol.
It said it arrested Victor Manuel Pichardo Abreu and is after a fourth suspect who fled the scene.
In a statement the head of the DNCD Rolando Rosado said Peralta had been deported from the United States after having served eight years on a drug trafficking conviction, whereas Abreu had been arrested on weapons charges
DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebrón said its agents had observed when the men arrived at the parking lot of a restaurant in the area of the Monument in a BMW car registered to Jorge Luis Bopudier Adames, with a “suspicious behavior.”

suspicious? haha....doesn't it strike anyone as suspicious that in a country notorious for being unable and unwilling to enforce drug laws, that alleged drug dealers(?) would "jump" to their deaths to avoid being arrested? This smells of a cover-up or the biggets idiotic drug delaers in modern history.

so they pushed them and saved two bullets

Either way.. jumped or thrown Good job DNCD! If the men jumped... then good job. But if they were thrown by DNCD (or DEA) agents then GREAT JOB! I appreciate the push because I DO NOT WANT MY US TAX DOLLARS TO GO TO COVER THE COST OF PAYING US$ 50,000 per year to house these inmates in the US prisons (food, shelther, overhead, healthcare, dental care, eye car etc).
Also, thanks for saving the two bullets...inventory will appreciate it!. How many 14 year old boys will be saved from becoming drug addicts in the next 20 years since society will be without the two criminals above. The spillover benefits will be great.
I salute you!

Not sure I can believe these two guys jumped to their death. A couple things I know for sure about my Dominican people are: 1. they don't practice suicide missions; 2. they don't strike or picket on weekends, holidays or anytime when they could otherwise be drinking or leisuring; and 3. they certainly don't jump from 6 story's up -- especially when they know that our judicial system is so corrupt that a great likelyhood exists that they'll be able to buy their way out in a matter of weeks if not days. I've never been much into the whole conspiracy theory thing -- but I must admit that this one seems a bit fishy to me.

They should of went to El Rio Amina jumped in the water and switch cars. Drop the cars off at a pre-determind location and pick them up like nothing happened. (Amateurs) Good job DNCD, for not

great news for the school system in the dr.
Teachers flunk
The deficiencies in the country's educational standards are now becoming even more apparent. A recent recruitment drive for new public school staff held 19 to 21 October showed that of 2,534 teachers who applied for 2,584 academic posts, only 594 qualified, most with scores of 50 and 60%. Deputy Minister Nelsa Chavez said that of those tested only 23.4% scored the minimum 60 points on tests. The Ministry needed to find school principals, but of 319 who applied for the posts, only 35 were qualified. For assistant principal, only 19 of 219 passed the tests. Of 852 teachers who applied to teach in pre-school, only 187 passed the test, in elementary school of 169 who applied, only 57 passed. For physical education teachers, of 384 applicants, only 132 made the minimum scores. Of 514 applicants for school counselor posts, only 160 were accepted. Education Minister Melanio .

I don't think anybody would have objected if these two 'rufianes' had been victim of extra-judicial killing. By the same token, I don't think there is anybody who believes 'them fellas' jumped to their death rather than being arrested. This is for two reasons:
a) Most narcos (even street-level players) are 'connected' at the 'destacamento' so chances are they would have been on the street in a fairly short time.
b) Dominicans, by and large are not known as the suicidal type. Al-qeada would never bring jihad to the DR (they would never find any volunteers, LOL)
Bonus
c) Two packages of drugs is far too small. The maximum penalty for ANY crime in the DR is 30 years. I would bet my student allowance there aren't many narcos serving 30 year sentences.
The whole episode is HIGHLY, HIGHLY unlikely...and suspect

One of the things I like about the DR, swift punishment for the guilty (how many cop killer are there in jail ?) I'll bet none, they all were shot while escaping or comitted suicide while in police custody or to avoid capture. May not be exactly democratic but it saves on court costs and the chance that a good lawyer might get them off. Say what you want, it's 100% effective.

I do not agree with this type of justice which is remarkably like the shooting of kidnappers in Nagua some few weeks ago and like the shooting of three juvenile robbers in a street and in daylight in the capital. Where does it start and finish?? Do we want the police to start killing people before there can be a court decision ...Maybe all the victims are scum but they are still entitled to proper justice.

One of the men in this story was close friend of my family. We all make mistakes, some more than others. He made have been a drug dealer to you but to us he was family and as much as we all disagree with their occupation we have to remember that they are still human! You all talk a lot of bs and all have your assumptions, but you will never know what really happened! Both these men were brothers, cousins, sons, fathers and now they are gone! Did any of you even stop to think about how their family would feel reading something like this? To JD_Dominguez (and every one else who followed his ignorant post) i would like to say F*CK YOU! I don't know you but I wish nothing good for your dim-witted ass! How dare! You have no idea what the families are going through! I don't usually wish bad things on others but I hope that you one day feel the way we do! Use your brain before you post something so heartless! No one deserves this kind of treatment! ~REST IN PEACE RADHAMES~ we love you!

When you deal in drugs you destroy your neighbohood, your country and as in this case, your family. I hvae family members and friends who put themselves in that buissness, a couple have been locked up for more than 17 years, at least one is dead. They might be cousins of mine but I have no sympathy fo them. For some, it's all good, the money, the cars and jewelry and girls that get spread around , when it all blows up and the good times are replaced with tragedy,, people want to moralize. Thats the real B...

RIP_RADHAMES, I must say that your post reflects an awefully bitter and misguided manner of grieving and mourning. Taking on people because they disapprove of drug peddlers and dealers is an ignorant and naive attitude to take. Just as you so firmly believe that these were simple guys that were sons, brothers, cousins, etc., -- so too do the families of the innocent children that have died as a result of the poison they peddled -- believe that the children they lost were sons, brothers, sisters, nephews, etc. I think you should take consolation in the fact that most people that posted in response to this event -- take the position that these guys were probably pushed as opposed to them jumping. So, hermano, don't be so bitter -- remember: we reap what we sow. Your non-chalant attitude toward drug dealing is not surprising, however. It's the same attitude that resulted in thousands of of our own being killed in NYC during the roaring Fuego Fuego era of the 80s.
