Sobeida Felix case, big fish behind a guppy's vanishing act.
Zoom Picture

SANTO DOMINGO.- Immigration Agency director Sigfrido Pared today threw the first pitch in the blame-game of the disappearance of money laundering suspect Sobeida Felix, accusing the judicial system and the State intelligence agencies.

He affirmed that her disappearance reveals the failure and casts doubts not only on the intelligence agencies, but Dominican Republic’s entire official system, although National District prosecutor Alejandro Moscoso affirmed Thursday that he notified the Justice Ministry, of the travel impediment at 3:50 p.m. on October 19, one day before Felix was released on bail.

“I admit that one way or another we’re all responsible," Pared said.

However, the official noted that the Immigration Agency wasn’t notified of the travel ban against Felix and stressed that no person with that name or with the fugitive’s physical characteristics is registered as departing via any port or airport. “It’s known by all that the judge has all her travel documents, so for her to have left must have been with an altered document or by a route that isn’t regular."

Pared said he expects last night’s meeting with president Leonel Fernandez with the judicial authorities and law enforcement agencies leads to positive results.

C'mon, i don't see how important is her "escape" issue. The real issue is who is (are) protecting the narcos in DR. I mean, who the "pejes gordos" are.

While everybody wonders where she is and throw the buck at each other, they are losing track of the true targets.

She's nothing more than a stasher, and not worth that much attention.

By the way, do they still have the $4.6M or did it vanish too?

MRMRBAEZ - You are soooo right. Who are the pejes gordos? That's what's important - much more important than bringing a moustached Sobeida to the books. Eventually she will land there anyway...

Mr. Sigfrido Pared:

Talk about immigration irregularity, take a look how many Chinese (From Mainland China) lived in DR?
How do they get in?

You know how corruption of government is in DR......... you guys should go to Hollywood to look for your good career in actor or actress, plus the lying abilities.

The political process...Get elected. Lie, steal, cheat, spend your days figuring out who to borrow from and then award it to a friend, who will give it back to you:

From today's DR1:

The Chamber of Deputies has approved six commercial loans totaling US$339.4 million for the construction of public works projects. Of the funds, US$111.2 million and US$14.5 million will be allocated for the constructing, equipping and operating the eastern Santo Domingo Ciudad de la Salud pediatric, maternity and general specialties hospital center in eastern Santo Domingo, a non-tendered contract.

That's what non-tendered means.

Then run for reelection.

Here's another beauty. This is about the baseball complex named after the most famous Dominican to ever attack a catcher by hitting him over the head with a bat during a game. Same source:

The project has been criticized for lack of transparency and furthermore on the grounds that the government's real estate contribution is being undervalued, tenders have not been held, and there are doubts about the viability of a hotel in the area. The priority of government investment in this primarily a real estate project is also questioned. This is the first announcement suggesting the government will take on responsibility for funding the complex.
Geronimo said the government would take on US$224 million in loans with the Portuguese commercial bank.

Doesn't anyone else see this being a huge ripoff of our tax monies? Does anyone really believe that this is what we should be doing with money that we don't have?

Alejandro,

Comparing this mugshot to more recent ones in DT Today, one would be hard-pressed not to think that she hasn't already changed her appearance.

It seems she was downright homely at best when first caught. Now, she is most pleasing to the eyes and makes men really want her-not for just being a woman, but for looking rather hot!

No one fitting her physical description has departed the country in 3 weeks.
Let's see. She fits about 15% of the descriptions of all female passengers.
About 40 % of all passengers are female.
There are about 4 million entrances/exits per year.
Three weeks are 6% of a year.

crank...crank...crank...

She has already left 14,400 times..

With that MUSTACHE that she has she could also pass for a male traveler as well. All she needs is to let the sideburns grow out a little more and she will be unrecognizable. It appears that crime actually pays in DR. I'm waiting to see how much more finger pointing will take place before the "real" culprits are let go again.
