SANTO DOMINGO.- Ex president Hipólito Mejía affirmed Wednesday that economically, politically and socially the country is “jodido” (f----d), and that all sectors must jointly design a real project of nation to solve its problems with coherent plans.  “There are three countries; the economic country, the political country and the social one, we’re jodidos in all three”

The ex chief executive, known for using profanity, said although he doesn’t want to be a soothsayer of doom, predicted a new tax reform, after the country’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to access US$1.7 billion.

“The little numbers of the country aren’t good,” he said interviewed on Z-101 FM, and cited the country’s current situation as heightened crime, acts of rape, insecurity and drug trafficking. “This is a worrisome problem and it’s necessary to look for a solution, especially with the plight of the hospitals and financing to invigorate the economy.”

LOPEZ,

I totally agree with you.
He had his chance and did nothing.

Hipoloco is the one that is "jodido" not the country, we are doing fine without his daily injections of sarcastic remarks, and put downs.

If the country is "Jodido" Hipolito is responsible for at least five out of the six letters that make up that word.

Esto es increible, en nuestro pais hay mucha gente que no tiene verguenza. Ese tiguere debería estar bien preso.

He had his chance and he did plenty. All of it bad. For the things that he did, he should be in jail.

And anyone that thinks the country is doing fine is crazy. Look around.....No one has a job, except for government employees. We are starying afloat only because we are borrowing like crazy from anyone that will "give" us something, regardless of the cost. Our government has more criminals than honest workers. There are enough government employees to take care of a country ith 35,000,000 people. Our court system is corrupt. We have the highest paid legislators in the world, who do nothing to justify their wages.

Yeah, we are doing just fine.

This guy is a joke or what. Our "papa" is losing it. I mean here is a guy who started all with these politician give me more mentality in 1978 when he was A.Guzman secy of Agriculture.

This is the same man who not only overturned ex- pres Jorge Blanco corruption conviction but he hailed Blanco as a martyr. So hipopotamo when we need to start with the word F...D we need to start with you buena rata.

DUH!!!! IMF loans = Financial/tax reform on the end of the recipient country...I bet he think he is sooooo smart...NOT

I haven't been following Dominican Politics for too long but how much of this is real concern and How much of it is just him trying to gain momentum for himself and his party for the next elections?

Regardless of the matter of whether he is good or bad..
One thing stays the same this country is F*cked!!!!
LF is setting DR up for Failure, Big time!!!!! And since we all know that the 1.7 billion Dollars will not be used to improve LIFE for DOMINICANS "not the Foreigners"....

What Dominicans fail to see is that we must work TOGETHER!!!!
EVERYONE KNOWS LF is barrowing the country to death, but those that are for LF.. won't be around when the piper has to be paid!!!

The funny thing about the IMF loans is that even Dominicans outside of DR will loose. WHY?
We are going to have to start sending more money to DR soon.

I have never worked on any campaign but if I wanted to I could work for Hipo or Miguel...
And Hipo doesn't even like Miguel they are at odds. My late tio politico was friends with Hipo.
A lot of BAD things happened when Hipo was president.
But unlike LF, Hipo was born poor.. And grow up poor....
Unlike you John, he did not always have a silver spoon in his mouth.
I will admit both parties are corrupted, WE ARE LOSING!
We will soon be forced to send money to DR just so our family members will not loose their houses to absurd taxes....
At a time where living in the U.S. is hard enough as it is.
