SANTO DOMINGO.- A National District judge on Thursday denied a motion to detach the file to separately hear the accusation against the Nicaraguan Orin Clinton Gomez and the Dominican Augusto Daneris Andújar in the case of the murder of seven Colombians in the village of Paya, Peravia province (south).

1st Instruction Court judge Roman Berroa declined Gomez’ request to separate his case, noting that he had become a plaintiff against the former Navy officers who allegedly shot him three times during the murders on August 4, 2008.

Andújar’s defense claimed he didn’t take part in the murders and that he’s only being charge with money laundering, whereas the lawyers for Jose Luis Montas (El Duro Motors) and Andres Balbuena motioned for acquittal for lack of specific charges.

Berroa, who postponed the hearing for the 19th, decided to rule on the motions jointly with the Justice Ministry’s request to open the criminal trial.

They will eventually let them out on bail....right before they lose the files. That's the DR "justice system".......drug dealers, their whores and murderers go FREE.....

Unfortunately DoggPound hit the nail on the head.

The DR Justice system along with the Military are steadily developing their kinship with the drug dealers and cartels.

At what point somebody or anybody actually does something about it is the biggest question.

Does anyone really believe that the outcry regarding the release of Sobeida will prevent another judge from lining his pockets to make a decision in favor of any crook willing to pay?

That photo of the Nica makes him look like a mean MF, he should be sent to the prisons in the Haitian border area and see how tough he really is.

I don't know, but given state of Dominican justice, I just think this individual hasn't any money to buy off the right people. Everybody all the way to LF is for sale in DR......they are all like prostitutes and you just have to meet their price and not offend them.

Dominican judges are easier to buy off than "chimichurris". Heck, I am actually shocked they don't advertise on radio and printed media. They operate without any fear of repercussions and with apparent total impunity. How far away from a failed system/state could we really be?

Just consider the arrogance and absolute ineptitude of the judge who let Sobeida walk. She said she stands on her record-which at very best sad and at worst atrocious. She should be disbarred and outright fired and should never again work in law. However, in DR, she will probably be promoted. Disgusting and hopeless!!!!!!!
