Santo Domingo. – While tensions from the raging dispute for internal posts continue in the country’s biggest opposition party PRD, and the once powerful but now skeletal PRSC hangs on to the hopes of reaching government posts to survive, the ruling PLD appears to increasingly enjoy the trimmings of being in power.

And as PRSC leader Humberto Salazar on Wednesday called on all his colleagues who seek candidacies for the next elections to launch their political campaigns and no await a decision on the possible alliance with the PLD, the Legal Adviser during Hipolito Mejia’s Presidency, Guido Gomez Mazara, warned that his failure to reach the PRD’s General Secretary post may “hail a defeat of Miguel Vargas Maldonado in the 2012 elections.”

Mazara and Jose Frank Peña Guaba, who was also defeated in his bid for the PRD’s Organization Secretary post, have vowed to take their dispute to any jurisdiction wiling to hear their case.

Salazar meanwhile said the alliance with the PLD is currently “in the air” and despite that the talks to define the process were slated to conclude on November 10, they’ve yet to materialize. “While there’s no answer and transparency a comparative advantage is being given to the parties which compete with us for the same electoral market, because our leaders don’t know what to do at this moment.”

He said of the alliance must be discussed with PRSC president Carlos Morales the sooner the better, as a quick response must be given to its rank and file. “The engineer Morales and the party leaders have the responsibility of satisfying almost 6,000 people on their shoulders,” he said in a interview on Channel 9.

All this while the head of the PLD, president Leonel Fernandez enjoys a film festival.

Our only chance we have as an nation is the PRSC and the allied FNP. They had been proven thru our history to be the only party protecting our Domincianidad and believe in patriotism. Too bad Balaguer is not alive to take a few of his party by the ear.

Josie who was the lesser evil? Peña Gomez or Leonel? Remember also not only our people will see chaos and economy calamity as the PRD gave us in the 80's but also the thread of unification with Haiti. By now had Peña Gomez been president 1. Carlos Andres Perez wuould had been the richest person in DR and the constitution will have stated UNA ISLA INDIVISIBLE.

Balaguer promised Peña while he still alive he will never see the National Palace as president.
Take a look at this archive josie by our leader Balaguer how el camino estaba cerrado.

When speaking of LIE-onel Fernandez and Balaguer you should refrain from phrases such as "went down!"

While Margarita and LIE-onel Fernandez are wasting the taxpayer’s money on frivolous affairs for the wealthy and well connected, school children go without milk because LIE-onel doesn’t pay the milk producers on time.

Here's what one of fools from the PLD believes:

Montas defends debt
Increasing debt instead of cutting public spending has been a common practice by DR governments at times of financial difficulty. Hoy reports on Economy, Planning and Development Minister Temistocles Montas' defense of the recent loans taken out by the government, which have increased the foreign debt. Montas said that its not that the PLD party has a knack for taking on more debt, but that the financial crisis the DR is facing forced the government to take on more loans to stimulate the economy.
He did admit that taking on more debt is a cause for concern, but continued his justification by saying that all countries have followed this pattern of more debt to deal with harsh economic situations. Montas went on to compare the DR's debt to that of the US and European countries.

There is nothing wrong with taking on debt as long as the money is spent properly ..especially in difficult economic times ,,but I understand that some writers here would prefer to have this country remain as a third world country and to improve a few kilometres of road and build a bridge when they saved a little money ..and buy in vaccines and medical supplies when they saved enough money .
Others would prefer to see accelerated progress with the cost of the progress spread over several generations ,,in that way we may be in debt but at least we can look after the less fortunate better and improve the infrastructure in the country .

doesn’t pay the milk producers on time. Better to drink water since the milk is 98% water anyway.

Ricardolito,

There can be no progress without EDUCATION. To accomplish that you do not need massive amounts of debt for "feel good" and election time projects.
