PORT AU PRINCE.- Haiti president René Préval yesterday provided Dominican Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez with the documents needed to support France’s extradition request for the Haitian alleged murderer Amaral Ducloná.
In a press statement the Justice Ministry says Ducloná is the most wanted Haitian gang leader, accused of crimes including assaults and murders, including the one of a French diplomat.
Preval and Jimenez spoke for more than one hour on Haiti’s willingness to accept France request to extradite Ducloná, now being held in a Dominican jail.
Ducloná, leader of armed gangs in Port-au-Prince, was captured September 8 by narcotics agents in a residential complex in La Romana (east), and has since claimed that he’s not the fugitive, and instead Julicoeur Berthone.
Préval however handed Jiménez the evidence which show his true identity, including a birth certificate of the suspect whose alleged crimes include some against members of the UN peacekeepers in Haiti.
