Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo Province Prosecutor on Friday affirmed that the Justice Ministry has been purged, with reprimands issued to 20 Assistant DAs and 18 others penalized for misconduct.

Perfecto Acosta said once a Justice Ministry official acts incorrectly the authorities place them before an appellate court to applied disciplinary action.

The official, in the televised interview on Channel 7, said all cases in which there have been irregular actions have been processed regardless of their position.

“We don’t have one case of which can be said that it’s going to remain as is because it involves John Doe, there have been cases of colonels, there have been necessary in which generals, industrialists and all types of people were called who become involved in criminal actions,” he said, but didn’t cite any names.

Perfecto Acosta is either a complete idiot or is involved in some serious corruption himself. Any person with half a brain can see this from this article. Another example where we Dominicans are represented by someone who looks like a complete idiot. We need not wonder why most other countries consider Dominicans stupid people when we have people like this setting examples for everyone to read about.

To me more specific:
20 Assistant DAs have had their wrist firmly slapped.
18 others have had their wrist lightly slapped.

I have not heard of any country,at least in the British commonwealth or France or Germany or in Thailand ,where the exact disciplinary action against any judge is made public or a judge named ,except where they are being prosecuted themselves. Normally it is noted that the judge is no longer sitting on the bench.
I would be just as concerned at one writer here who condemns this Prosecuter because he/she does not like his face. My concern in the article which I believe on face value to be the truth ( as I do not imagine that he has gone onto the TV to lie ) is that firstly the word misconduct is used and then is replaced by acts incorrectly which are two different things. Maybe just a problem in the translation but all in all it can be said that something positive is happening ,even though it may not please the USA dominicans in DT

The big difference is that everytime some says something ,you need evidence that he is telling the truth but i want evidence that he is lying .
I prefer my outlook .

VeronicaDR, you are absolutely correct on this, I grew up in the States and everywhere I went I would to listen to someone criticize our people. I would stand up for them, sometimes even getting into fistfights over it, but now that I'm living in the heart of it, I'm sorry to say they were right. Our politicians, judges, military, police or anyone with a higher authority thinks we the people must be stupid. They don't know how to cover things up and think that by doing something half way they are satisfying el pueblo. As long as this continues there will never be justice in our country. like I always say "GIVE ME ALL THE FACTS OR DON'T GIVE ME NOTHING AT ALL!!"
Your talking about the legal system here. there should be a no tolerance rule here, you mess up and your OUTA HERE!!, NO IF AND OR BUTTS.

Ricardolito, the problem is if things are done with your point of view, It leaves the door open for corruption. why would I hold a press conference and give out parts of the evidence, if I go on TV to denounce someone and tell half the truths I might as well not say anything and leave it at that. This is a publicity stunt remember it's election time soon and every nobody needs to be influenced by someone else. Maybe the USA Dominicans speak on this by experience. If this country doesn't get it together soon it will become a failed state. I do admit this is a step in the right direction but what we need is more people like Wilton Guerrero, to stand up and do what's right and believe me I don't follow the politics of this country so I'm not favoring anyone here because they all lie. Though at least I think what Mr. Guerrero has done is set the tone for others to follow. the problem is they all afraid of not being accepted by their peers (cowards)

Jcl ..the problem here is that on very very few occasions does anyone here bring forward any evidence at all that someone is not tellng the truth, someone has been corrupt or something is improper . All they do is mouth off a repetitive collection of very monotonous sentances.
This article is a good example .Some of the problem is that on this board there is often a very small piece of a story ,on DR1 there is normally a little more,in the daily papers still a little more but seldom is the total story or statement given.
We all know that corruption to some level is endemic in latin countries,in particular, for reasons I cannot fully understand but not all statements are lies and not all actions are corrupt. Here ,most writers assume that they are.
