Santo Domingo.– As part of the Christmas Without Drugs operation, Dominican authorities said 95 people were arrested on Saturday, including 12 “known” narcotics dealers.

According to the National Police and the Drugs Control Agency (DNCD), the agents seized quantities of cocaine, crack, marijuana and drug processing equipment. Among the group of 12 “known” drug traffickers were Nelson Antonio Perez Arias, Angel Perez Arias, Moises Lachapelle Jimenez, alias “El Block,” and Daniel Martinez Rosario, arrested in the southern city of San Cristobal near Santo Domingo.

Arrested in the capital were Juan Gervasio Mella, Deivi Reyes, Angel Manuel Suero Solis, Pedro Cabral Santana, Alfredo Feliz Ruiz, Socrates Israel Ramirez Vargas, Eliseo Perez Batista and Cristian Reyes, among others that the DNCD said it nabbed in the act of committing crimes.

Other arrests were made in San Francisco de Macoris and the northeastern town of Nagua, La Romana and Higuey in the east, and Azua in the south.

Ok, so these individuals are "know drung dealers". This means that these individuals are worthless to society, actually society is better off without them. One to the back of the head, please.

Funny, I'm still left with the thought "known drug dealers" for how long ?
Why wait so long to act ?
I can only wonder how many more "known drug leaders" are known but Authority's stall and are failing to act ?

Good point, Riosm. They are all known drug dealers and have been known of for some time. It is all a profitable game! In the barrios the police usually call the drug dealers first and give them a date and time when the raid will take place. They expect a payoff or otherwise they dealers will NOT have the right to sell more drugs.

These are things that the US DEA and FBI unfortunately never be able to understand because it does not always make sense to an Americano.

The sad part of it is the negative spillover to society by allowing this element to exist, gain wealth and turn young kids into drug addicts and criminals to support their new habits.

The US officlals and those in our Embassy have no idea of what is actually going on. It is very depressing once you find out the truth!

I love the Dominican Republic, never been hassled by street hustlers. Cartels have always run the show, always will. They are heroes in a underpriveliged society, schools, hospitals etc. A shadow effort by DEA,CIA, any letters, does not matter. But lets keep the locals off the beach. RICK/OUT
