SANTO DOMINGO. – Thugs at the service of convicted narcotics trafficker Manuel Emilio Mesa Beltre, alias El Gringo burst into the Ciudad Nueva Courthouse Monday afternoon smacking and insulting journalists with obscenities to intimidate them into not filming or photographing him.

The journalist Franklin Guerrero, of newspaper El Nabional and Nuria Piera’s program, was punched in the face in the incident, in which the reporter Maximo Polanco, of the National District Office of the Prosecutor’s PR department was also struck.

El Gringo was scheduled to appear before the Permanent Attention Court for a bond hearing, but it was postponed for 5 p.m. Tuesday

The claque’s aggression against the journalists occurred when he was being escorted to the jail in the Courthouse’s 4th floor.

After the incident Police agents arrested at least four of the thugs and Guerrero went to the Office of the Prosecutor to file a complaint against them.

DR Court security at it's finest....wait til the big boys go on trial....the Colombians will send in a team with weapons who will kill the judges, lawyers and jury as they extricate their bretheren....the people of the DR need to smarten up and tighten up the security, not WAIT like they do for eveything else.

Wow! Un-Freakin Believable! Who is running the country?

This is what happens when you are soft on drug crimes and lay down with dogs (you catch alot of fleas!).

I agree with DoggPound, it will only get worse. This is how wanted US fugitives & escaped convicts can find safe havens in various barrios in the RD because there is so much of a very loose system there.

There was a smart young boy about 12 in my barrio who wanted to learn english & ask to borrow my dictionary which I gladly lent. He was smart & a good kid before. But now at 15-16, he is strung out on drugs looking like trash & rug thru the ringer.

He got hooked on freebies via local drug dealers on school routes who hold major drug shipments for cooling. THEN take a little off the top to move & sell locally before sending the main shipments onward to the US. It's a pay to play system.

FBI, give me a job in the RD market, I will work seasonally for free!

Take these thugs to a secluded room in the court house and cut off at least 3 fingers from each of their hands and just tell them next time they act up the other two will go. Then implant a tracking device in them and lets track them. It would make one cool National geograhic experiment/show.
