Santo Domingo.- The hunt for Sobeida Feliz, implicated in the confiscation of US$4.6 million allegedly produced with drug trafficking, expanded to other countries after the authorities asked Interpol to arrest the fugitive, on suspicions she had left the country and fled to Europe.

Armed Forces minister Rafael Antonio Peña provided the information yesterday, and revealed that Interpol and other law enforcement agencie3s from the United States pursue Feliz and her alleged paramour, the also fugitive Puerto Rican Jose Figueroa Agosto. “They are looking for in some countries where it’s suspected that she could have gone or where we have some indication that she had fled.”

He said Police and Armed Forces intelligence discreetly handle all information received and have shared it with Interpol and other agencies, who in addition to Feliz also look for Figueroa, who headed a drug trafficking network in this country.

The Armed Forces chief said the authorities aim to capture both fugitives as a top objective and that the pursuit will be permanent until the authorities get results.

The official said some reports that she had possibly fled the country have been investigated and the search has immediately moved to the countries where the authorities suspect she could be hiding. “We will locate her because she would have to disappear from the face of the Earth to avoid her being rearrested.”
