Santo Domingo.- The Electrical System’s Assistant Prosecutor yesterday announced that all people who’ve been caught committing electrical fraud will be booked for energy theft in the Justice Ministry’s criminal investigation system.

Moisés Ferrer revealed that steps are already being taken to register a criminal record for theft of the power supply. “So they are going to be surprised later, when they see that they also have a rap sheet for robbery.”

He urged people to stop the practice and warned the citizens avoid a bad moment and go to the distributing companies to regularize their situation.

The official, interviewed on Santo Domingo TV by Federico Méndez, affirmed that aside from the criminal record, the names of those get caught will be published and taken to court.

Ferrer said the situation is serious since the State cannot continue paying billions of pesos so people who can pay the light steal it instead.

He said around 1.6 million people are connected directly to the energy supply, and attributes many of those cases to the deficiencies of the distributors. He placed the number of users legally connected to the system at around 2 million.

Now if they only did this for the corrupt civil servants and elected officials they would have no one out on the streets.

The government should be at the top of the list. Non-payment for service is stealing.

Come one !

Dominicans do not care if they have a rap sheet. It will only feed their macho mentality.

Put some teeth in this venture.

The Chinese just put two people to death for manipulating the contents of milk.

Exactly Jim! Why not give rap sheets to the politicos who hire their families w/o any qualifications. Or why not punish the political parties who actually weaken and corrupt our political system w/ political clientelism?

Lets start at the top! b/c the politicos and the parties are the biggest thieves!!!
