SANTIAGO, Dominican Republic.- Several Haitians allegedly hacked to death a Dominican man today by in a farm of the village Hatillo San Lorenzo, La Canela district, on the city’s southern outskirts, as Police agents conduct sweeps and brace for reprisals.

The body of Valerio de Jesus Salcedo, 59, was taken to the morgue at the Cabral y Báez hospital, and from there to the Pathology Institute, after his son Alejandro found him earlier with multiple stab wounds in the farm owned by Pablo Arias.

La Canela residents said several Haitians armed with machetes and knives killed Valerio after a dispute which occurred yesterday afternoon, as the threat of reprisal has led dozens of Haitians who live there to flee and avoid being lynched by enraged Dominicans.

Police agents have begun a wide sweep of the zone around La Canela to arrest the murder suspects.

Another Dominican was recently stabbed to death by a Haitian who was caught stealing wires in the community Manga Larga, in nearby La Vega province.

Version from the Haitian side of the story:
Several peaceful exploited and abused Haitian laborers, who were not allowed to cut some stupid trees, and take some cows that were roaming around doing nothing, were verbally abused by the racist Dominican owner of the land and cattle, so they decided to take matters into their own hands,
and chopped him up in pieces, "for his own good" of course.
The other Haitian caught stealing power lines said "you Dominicans have so much, and we have so little" so he decided to bring the electricity back to Haiti with him, by cutting the power lines.

You may say this as a joke but it maybe be what shows up in their news. LOL that's a good one general

Solange Pierre has her head buried in the sand by now. From her own web site you can no longer get in contact with the Mudha foundation. i guess she gave up or something. I will have to confirm this but it sounds like she is giving up on it cause the fairy tale story of the "innocent illegals" of her is no longer working with the international community. I have try contacting her but none of the emails on the site works not even the phone #s either. Maybe she is afraid of the reality that she is facing a battle where the eye of the public is no longer in her favor. People that donate are actually watching the local news and since since Consuelo got the ball rolling and DT have shown is not afraid to post the news things are starting to clear up the image or should i say the one sided story that kept filling up the news and turning it against DR.

Everything we are going thru right now Balaguer predicted. Llegara un dia que esos pacifista, pro-haitiano mueran sin pais al igual que el traidor Nuñez de Caceres lloraran lagrima de sangre por traidores.

Maybe she is sensing our people's uprising to take back our country and she doesn't want to be exposed. Remember not long ago she was with the Kennedy at the JCE pressuring our country to surrender.

Try close to 3 million at least. Only between SD, Santiago and Puerto Plata there is close to a million alone. Where they are real strong is in small town where for the most part they outnumber Dominicans like Punta Cana.

If you go by the NGO it is less than a million. The last thing they want is for us to be alarmed. If you go by concerned Dominicans it up close to 3 million. I been there all around and seen them everywhere I go.

Because you are one of them who are you kidding Juangue. Of course our people and land suffering at the hand of the Haitians will not hurt you. People like you believe that you are helping your country by advocating for your compatriot to live off DR instead of you going to your own country and invest there to try to make a difference.

Why not complain to try to get some changes in the things that allow these illegals to enter. For example:

Jesuit priest Father Regino Martinez, who coordinates the Frontier Solidarity movement in Dajabon, told reporters from the Spanish news agency EFE that the deportation of immigrants does not solve anything. He said, "You don't achieve anything with this, because while the Migration authorities are repatriating the undocumented immigrants, other authorities are letting them return". Martinez has continuously reported the toll military authorities charge for letting illegal immigrants through the border.

A toll to enter? Let's get this criminal replaced.

BELLA

this are not isolated incidents, you need to come out of your paradise castle and take a fact check trip over la linea noroeste, i mean northern santiago, navarrete, mao hasta puerto plata and see for yourself the scope of the situation, nobody here is trying to spark an ethnic cleansing campaign or anything like that, but refusing to speak up about the murderous tendencies of this people is naive and much worst is unpatriotic.

You need to understand that this violence is going to continue and is going to get worst, don't fall for the afro-lambon idea that is a racist matter, because is not , is a matter of survival and when the tit for tat start you need to know that history is in our side.

but anyway , why don't you holla @ me in private, I'm 45 min away from cabarete, maybe we can have an exchange of ideas over a cold presidente.

Atabey "The situation may finally be coming to a head. Many are concerned about the image of the DR in the international arena, and also the image of the country to outsiders visiting our beautiful nation"

I been saying that for the longest here. That is the image the tourist take back to their country that we are a pest bunch of beggard backward people that need to be avoided.

Punta Cana alone there is 50,000 Haitians roaming around by far outnumbering Dominicans. If Benedict Leonel keep thing the way they are Punta Cana will become another Puerto Plata. What a far cry from the Punta Cana of 10 year ago. They are spreading from this area. Just a few week ago 47 and then 112 arrested for deforesting next door Los Hatices.

I don't know if DT missed the part of this same news where those who came back were actually threating the ones that called immigration on them maybe DT can dig up more on the story here because that will show another trend that could start to build up where good Dominicans could start to fear to report on them because they fear their family or their own safety could be jeopardize. I will post the link to the full story later.

Situation in DR has reached proverbial "boiling point", and this type of crime only adds impetus to an already bad situation.

Inevitably, innocent people will die on both sides-collateral damage-I guess.

People with Taino blood don't like to be aggrieved or pushed and, to many here, that threshold passed long ago. I would expect the lynchings shall start momentarily.

Sad, hopeless situation.

A small and poor country has been grossly burdened with uncontrolled immigration beyond reason. The West has chosen to be a sideline spectator, yet vociferous in its criticism. We've been abandoned, left to handle dire situation our own way. It will be the West's burden to bear, when retributions are meted out.

I'd fully expect situation to get very ugly....it has to....people just can't take it any more. I would even expect a direct challenge to governing authorities and status quo.

Perhaps this would be a good thing.

Why Dominicanos have to be the caretakers of Haiti's poverty?
Porque?
people are getting fed up, with many haitians begging all over, taking Dominicans jobs,
now they even are working as security guards with shotguns! believe or not.

WOW!!!! Nobody pointed out the glaring racism in the article title. I was surprised they could actually take a "body" to the morgue. . .I was expecting only "parts" since he'd been "hacked to death." However, it made sense when the article explained the body had "multiple stab wounds" instead of being "hacked" up. Seems to me this article is anything but insightful and only "INCITE-ful" and was ironically written only to stir up more violence. Why didn't it say "Police Brace For Reprisals as Haitians STAB a Dominican to Death"? While murder is murder and justice should be upheld, integrity of reporting the events is also required and racism has no place in justice.

As for fear the image of the "beautiful country" of the DR and images tourists take with them. . .tourists can see twice the number of poor Dominicans than Haitians. Haitians are a MINORITY. So are rich Dominicans. There are FAR MORE poverty-stricken Dominicans than there are Haitians.

Fight ignorance. . .
