Manuel Emilio Mesa (El Gringo)

Santo Domingo. - The photojournalist Franklin Guerrero, who was assaulted Monday by four thugs of the convicted drug trafficker Manuel Emilio Mesa (El Gringo), was victim of yet another aggression last night when several men on motorcycles fired several shots at his house.

The reporter told Police that he found three cartridges in his residence and that one of the bullets hit his carport. He blamed the attack on Mesa, the alleged kingpin of drug traffickers in the capital’s northern barrios.

Guerrero said he’ll take measures to protect his life.

Last night National District Permanent Attention judge Reynaldo Ferreira sent Mesa and Yokasta Campusano to Najayo prison for three months, in connection with the around RD$40 million seized so far in the case.

Guerrero said he’ll file charges against the attackers, fearing for his family’s safety. “Near 8 p.m. three individuals, two on one motorcycle and one in another, wearing vests, fired three times, so far one bullet has been found in the carport underneath my wife’s car, where Police Forensics gathered three spent cartridges.”

I'n tellin you....you guys in the DR need to move faster than you ever have in your life....you're reliving MIAMI of the 1980s....there's going to be a lot more shooting in the streets....people "waking up" to loved ones with Colombian "neck ties" and their daughters reduced to being "modelos de los vendadores"....that's coke whores to the drug dealers.

The island of Hispaniola will become a base of operations for the Colombians who will sell off territories to others who wish to use it as a launching pad for other criminal activities in the Caribbean and the U.S.

The Domnican police, military and government are taking a limp wristed response that will result in the island's demise.....

Blutarsky,

You are so right! I'm sorry to say, but we need death squads in the DR. There are people who can not assimulate to society's norms and these people should be wiped out.

legalizing drugs is not the answer. at least not for hard drugs. legalizing hard drugs will simply put it on the street at affordable prices. adolescents will gravitate to it because, being affordable, it will be cool to try, especially among rich kids. marijuana has that status now and, like most of us here, we've all tried it without any serious or negative consequences. however, introduce cocaine or heroin into the equation and what you'll get is an extremely, overwhelmingly addicitve hard drug that makes drugs like oxycontin seem like aspirin; it will overtake many peoples lives, which will have the nice effect of having lots of crack addicts & crack whores permanantly addicted, which will lead to much more violent crime, not the little stuff we see now, but more like what takes place on a dialy basis in Caracas, Rio de Janiero, San Paulo, etc. where people walk right up to your car while your sitting at a stop light, in the middle of the afternoon, and put a gun to your head and

demand your money because now they're addicted to cocaine or heroin or crack because it's now cheap, affordable, and readily available. i woouldn't be against legalizing soft drugs except that over night, it will become like jamaica where it will be impossible for you or your children to remain unmolested from every taxi driver, every shoe shine boy, every cigar seller, etc. from soliciting you with "soft" drugs. every tourist will be molested with drugs the moment they step off their cruise ship (like in jamaica) or off the plane. it will become impossible to take a walk down the beach or any street without being harrasses by drug dealers becuase the profit margins and legality of it will be too tempting to resist. you think you see too many haitians now on the corners selling orange phone cards and phone chargers, imagine what it will be like when drugs are legal to sale! and by the way, i like haitians, don't have a single bad thing to say against them. but legalize drugs, and

That would mean the end of the PRSC, PRD, and PLD who are the criminal enterprises who created the environment for this plague to develop, nourish and grow!

and you'll just turn them into glorified drug dealers, just like you find in the streets of jamaica.

Amsterdam has legalized "soft" drugs, which it licences to specific "cafes" where it's not neccesarily "legal" to sell but, my understanding is, permitted to sell. i've been there many times and still do not understand the law. still, amsterdam does not permit the legal sell of any hard drugs. i'm not quaified to go into the details of the laws of amsterdam or holland so i will leave that for the dutch people on this forum to clearify. still, its not pretty the variables you would be introducing to the dominican repulic by making drugs legal, or even turning a blind eye to. One only needs to look at jamaica and the constant harrassing that goes on there when you try to simply walk down the street, take a taxi, or sit at any bar unmolested.

What the authorities need to do is to take this "A' Holes and feed them to the sharks. Or at least give them pairs of cement florsheims and how fast they travel to the bottom of the sea and drown.

This guy's smirk is annoying and probably a reminder of fact that the thugs own the system. He seems to be laughing at it, and saying: this is just a temporary inconvenience to me, and I "ll shall be let free shortly by judge "X"-whom I bought fair and clear. Enjoy the mug shot, suckers!
