Just in time for holiday cheers.
SANTO DOMINGO.- Customs Intelligence agents (DGA) on Tuesday seized a shipment of 4,000 boxes of expensive whiskey which smugglers tried to enter into the local market evading the import taxes of RD$18 million.
The whiskey shipment seized had entered through Samaná (northeast) and retained by DGA agents, and occurs after its director Rafael Camilo had warned that the vigilance in ports and airports was bolstered to thwart contraband, undervaluation of merchandise and tax evasion which smuggler traditionally attempt during the holidays.
Camilo affirmed that six Customs employees are being questioned, including the administrator of Samana’s Office of the Collector.

the paper trail will lead the authorities to the origin of this scam .....and because each bottle is computer coded it will be able to detect who was the original importer and who sold it to the smugglers .....the right to import this product{ Johnny Walker} that is the original customer should be suspended by the owner of the brand that being Diageo Company who were probably complicit in a gray market scam as usual {parallel market}.....the profits are enormous

well it would be like those authentic Cuban cigars you bought xwill7 .....but no Johhny Walker is all bottled in Scotland ....the only place they put those funky pour nozzles in the bottle is in markets where cheating is wholesale and bottles refilled with drek I would be shocked shocked if that was done in the DR

Blutarsky, I did not ask for the price before asking for the drink. have I known that it cost that much money i would have not buy it. I used to work in the bar and restaurant business for 7 years. That is why there is a saying that says another dumb ass.

Poor Blut - without his illicit tipple he will have to suffer the indignity of black label blend of 40 whiskeys after he finishes his imperial caviar........
He makes sacrifices all the time with fine champagne reaching a thousand dollars a bottle.

Hey Shoe, I think it is McCallan.
Now if they would do something about the phoney whiskeys sold here that is utterly crap in a 12 year old bottle I would be amazed.
In one bar the guy starts arguing with me an takes out another bottle to taste and he was slighly embarrassed when the color was different.
What a bunch of stupid people drinking rum as if it was a 12 year old Scotch:) Typical Dominican CRAP.
Sorry I guess I am bashing again...

Johnny Walker Blue, My personal favorite.....I call it "liquid silk".
Frank, I don't know where you get your shots so cheap.....last time I bought JWB at a bar, a shot went for $30.00, and that was eight years ago!
Best deal I've been able to get was about $170.00 a bottle and that was in Saint Marteen, three years ago! Tried buying a bottle of Pinch 30, I grew up watching father and his friends drink that stuff, and establishment owner ran me out of the lace.....he said you cannot find Pinch 30 anymore, because it was all being hogged up by nouveau internet rich. Wait till Chinese get into the mix, then we'll all be really screwed, and it will be back to Brugal.

The Roman philosopher Seneca said, “Drunkenness is nothing but voluntary madness,” and he was dead right. Applied liberally, alcohol makes you go out of your mind, and by that I mean it allows you to poke your head out of whatever mental rut you’re trudging along in. Which is important, because that ditch doesn’t offer much of a view.
Granted, some of the sheen and shine will fall off those grand ideas come morning, but a few nuggets will almost always glitter from those ink-stained cocktail napkins.
