Santo Domingo.– President Leonel Fernandez will officially proclaim the new Constitution on 10 December, the World Human Rights Day, during a solemn act at the National Assembly.

Military and civilian authorities together with members of the diplomatic corps and religious figures will be among the invitees to the ceremony.

According to the Revisory Assembly, Reinaldo Pared Perez, the activity will be divided into two parts, one in the morning where the complete text of the reformed Constitution as approved by the Commission of Verification and Auditing will be read.

The second part, to be held in the afternoon, will receive the Head of State, who will bring the work to a close.

The Assembly was convened for Monday 16 November to hear the report from the Commission of Verification and Auditing regarding the second reading of the project and to approve eleven acts of the sessions that remain to be approved.

I admire Leonel, but recently he has disappointed me. All I can say is that I'm worried by the PLD's center-right policies. I'm almost sure that I will support the PRD in the not-so-distant future if the PLD starts to behave like the U.S. Republicans!

"if the PLD starts to behave like the U.S. Republicans"

"Stars to behave," Where have you been since 1996!

"but recently he has disappointed me."

You and the other 8,999,999 Dominicans!

Welcome Edward; it is never too late to see the light!

Remember the PRSC; PRD and PLD are just three different branches of the same Corruption Rotted Tree!

There isn’t a dimes worth of difference between the three of these criminal enterprises!

Guillermo Moreno Presidente 2012!

If you look carefully you can see the strings that the religious leaders pull to make LF dance.

Wow! I must be having nightmares.......someone actually admires LF in this forum-Why? The man is a weak, pompous and corrupt leader! He is precisely the reason why there shall be another revolution in DR within next decade.

I have always had a problem understanding how the overwhelming number of Dominicans were never consulted or voted on any part of this constitution. From the various press releases it is no more than a compromise workrd out by the current political leaders of the two major parties. I doubt if anyone could think that politicians head the list of honest or intelligent people ...they are normally mediocre in all regards .yet here we have them handing the dominican people a constitution...It is a total joke .

My congratulations to the Secretary (Ministry) of State of the Armed Forces (Secretaría de Estado de las Fuerzas Armadas -SEFA), your project to name our Country "Dominicana" is working fine, only problem is that the revised constitution did not adopt it. Your project (with official and private support from historians and other entities) is being challenged by our project (supported by a few citizens) to name our country Quisqueya. Now we will have time to expose our reasons and foundations to the People, who will give the final approval. This is not just about the constitution; this is about our real national identity. You have your support; we only have our National Anthem and a few citizens who believe that the name of Quisqueya was chosen by Trinitarians and patriots who have fought for her Independence and the freedom and sovereignty of her People since 1844. Yes, we were "Dominicans", but only until 1844. We should now correct our mistake and call ourselves "Quisqueyans".

Is CONSTITUCION serious??

Bizc8, yes, CONSTITUCION is very serious!!! Sooner or later, you'll get a version of our hidden and controlled history. Just ask yourself how come the island where our country is located and shared with another nation is known with three different "official" names: Haiti, in the Constitution of the Republic of Haiti; Santo Domingo, in the Constitution of the Dominican Republic; and, Hispaniola, in the Report of the Agency for standardization of national and international geographical names of the United States of America?
Why Spain didn't accept the name Christopher Columbus used for the island? Check our site!
